Maybe you can help, my mother has an extensive history of pain. She has been tested for a variety of neurological disorders and everything comes up fine. She has been labeled with psychosomatic symptoms, she has been on several different medicines from antipysychotics to anticonvulsants with no relief. She has 3 brain aneurysms and doctors do not feel the pain/burning she is experiencing has anything to do with the aneurysms. She has a great deal of burning sensations t/o her body starting from her head to her feet. She describes this as nerve pain. She also has a great deal of facial twitching. She is at her wits end and doesnt know where else to turn. I have just started developing interest in homeopathy. I am a Registered Nurse as well. Your mothers case looks like a very ideal case for homeopathy. The pathology is limited and the functional disorder is at its maximum. The cause of the pain can not be judged without details about the onset, location, character and modality of pain. What we need to understand here is that pain is usually not a disease that needs to be killed with pain-killers. Pain is a reflection of some disturbance with ones body. Pain can be physical or psychological. The physical pain can be localized or generalized. The generalised pains are usually seen with hormonal disorders, auto-immune disorders, fever and other generalized infections. The Psychological pain is usually associated with depression. The prime character of such pain is that it is not stationary. It keeps moving from one part to another and its intensity decreases if the person is occupied. The facial twitching, if it started after treatment for pain, can also be due to side-effects of antipysychotics & anticonvulsants.
Having said all this, I must tell you that for proper homeopathy treatment, a homeopath needs lot more information. You need to find a good homeopath at the earliest. The homeopath will take the case history in detail and once the right remedy is given to your mother, I am sure you will see dramatic changes. Lastly, be wary of any homeopath who prescribes multiple medicines at the same time or tries to give you ready-made combination of any sort. Such mixing and combining of homeopathy medicines is usually not allowed. Such medicines can palliate or suppress but can not cure. For proper cure, homeopathy medicines need to be given according to the homeopathy principles.
