Biographies on Him are available in a great number of (online) literature. Still, there will be no way to give a short history of homeopathy without Him being mentioned. Also, the given history will be far from being complete. You will find a selection of notable data, but most probably, You will also miss many. Hpathy and me as the writer of these lines are open to Your input, we will be able to add further informations according to recommendations that You may consider being essential. Let me start with the question of when homeopathy had its date of birth. Opinions are in disagreement. Most authors focus on two events: a. Dr. Hahnemann’s translation of ‘A Treatise Of The Materia Medica’ by William Cullen resulting in the famous experiment with china bark (1790). b. The publishing of Dr. Hahnemann’s artikle in the Hufeland’s Journal in 1796, entitled ‘Versuch über ein neues Prinzip zur Auffindung der Heilkräfte der Arzneisubstanzen nebst einigen Blicken auf die bisherigen.’ (‘Essay On A New Principle To Determine The Healing Powers Of Medicinal Substances, Including Consideration Of Those To Date’). In 1800, Dr. Hahnemann starts His homeopathic practice. The following years He develops His main works one of which will become the ‘Organon Of Rational Healing’ (in later editions: ‘The Medicine Of Experience’), the ‘Materia Medica Pura’ and a good number of more publications. In 1811, when He ...

The Legal Status of Homeopathy in Germany

Homeopathy Past and Present

Homeopathy, and this is true for the past as it is at present time, never had it easy receiving acceptance. Homeopathy nowadays is acknowledged as one of the ‘peculiar forms of treatment’. It is said, homeopathy misses a scientific basis and in politics, it seems to be, as if different measures are being used measuring the therapeutic efficacy of the different systems of medicine. When discussing on the legal status of homeopathy, at first, one should answer the question of what the right understanding of a science might be, that claims to be authoritarian enough to decide, which therapy form can be accepted and which cannot. To be able to define the legal status of a method of treatment, whatever it may be, it is a matter of philosophy of science, and it is a matter of constitutional law (according to German constitutional law, arts and sciences, research and teachings are free). So to define the status of homeopathy, first of all, there should be a common understanding of what homeopathy really is. We do not have the one and true definition available until now. This is why we have to face the fact, that legislature has admitted not only single remedy prescriptions but also complex remedy prescriptions in homeopathy. We can conclude from this, that classical homeopathy is nothing else but just one school within homeopathy. Certain different schools of homeopathy cannot be excluded from homeopathy until legislation has created the basis to do so. European legislature explicitly allows ...

The Educational System of Homeopathy in Germany

Homeopathy Past and Present

Along with the worldwide upswing of homeopathy, more and more medical doctors, laymen and practicioners use homeopathy as their favourite method of treatment. Educational institutions and schools steadily increase in number. Laymen commonly visit adult education centres to get insight into a therapeutic system which they expect to make them independent from professional therapists in minor acute cases of affected health. Homeopathic remedies are easily accessible in pharmacies, and so self-treatment is increasingly being practiced. Especially mothers use to exchange their experiences in homeopathically treating their children in minor cases of disorders. A great number of them are real fans of homeopathy. The quality of such introductory courses to homeopathy has a great variation depending on the qualification and education of the lecturer. Since 1991 (7th amendment of the medical registration regulations), homeopathy is part of the catalogue of educational aims in medical education. Therefore, all medical faculties offer lectures in homeopathy. Almost every university supports study groups which commonly have been found by committed students of medicine. The study groups regularly come together by the „Wilseder Students Forum of Homeopathy” and they organize courses of further education in homeopathy, partly covering several semesters. The qualification of physicians in homeopathy is regulated since the mid 50′s. Qualifying courses are offered by the DZVhÄ (German Central Association of Homeopathic Physicians). In 1980, the state parliament of Bavaria, Germany, decided to request at the national government to induce a study covering the prerequisites for chairs of homeopathy in German universities. Fever And Its Role As Physilogical Necessity And As Disease Does Fever Have Any Value To The Body? Oh yes, it definitely has! Evolution has ‘invented’ fever as a means of bodily reaction directed against the cause of the disease. A raised body temperature stimulates the defense mechanisms of the organism, especially the synthesis of interferons and the function of certain leukocytous functions. On the other hand, fever is a burden or maybe even a threat to the body. Even if the body temperature is only moderately increased, children may suffer febrile convulsion. If body temperature exceeds 105,8 °F (41°C), infants and children may develop cerebral oedema or circulatory shock due to the lability of the water- and electrolyte metabolism. Normal Body Temperature A person’s deep tissue temperature varies within a range of 1°F (0,6°C) throughout the day. If external temperature does not reach a value beyond 55°F (12,7°C) and 130°F (54,4°C), this will not affect the normal core temperature which is, orally measured, within the range of 97°F (36°C) and 98,6°F (37,5°C) as long as low humidity permits perspiration to work in the regulatory mechanism. Measured rectally, the temperature is approximately 1°F higher. The skin temperature is much more influenced by the surroundings than the core temperature. Body Heat Generation Heat production within the body is closely depending of the metabolic rate of the body and therefor of the following factors: Within each single active body cell, metabolic processes take place, most of which being chemical reactions, many ...

Back Pain, Lumbago – Helpful Nuggets

Homeopathy Papers

Ailments of the back are generally increasing in number. There exist various reasons for this fact, like prolonged sitting at office jobs, lack of exercise,…. They will not be discussed here, though they need attention. Sometimes pain in the lower back hits the patient all of a sudden and unexpectedly just as heart attacks do. In some cases, the patient is condemned to immobility in the very acute state. If the homeopath is called, help is awaited with the same speed as the strike in the back has appeared. In literature suggestions on the best remedies are easily found. Depending on the source, the number of remedies usually is pretty small. Therefore, cure seems to be very simple. But if we take the repertory, we will be astonished, how many remedies caused the acute state of pain in the lower back – Lumbago – in their provings. In the Complete Repertory, you will find 459 remedies!! Many experienced homeopaths will use one of their standard remedies that approaches the symptoms of the patient well enough and relief usually follows. How will a novice in homeopathy deal with the case if he or she is under pressure to act quickly and if the patient is not able to stand a thorough casetaking? What can be done if the patient’s pains do not change after getting the remedy? One way the therapist easily can find the best remedy is by looking for unusal, uncommon symptoms. These will only be found in one ...

Homeopathy Materia Medica The Approach to Study

Materia Medica

This article is written for all of You intending to study homepathy and who are about to lose confidence facing such a vast number of homeopathic remedies to be studied. The effort You are taking is extraordinary, but it is worth all Your energy being put into the studies of this subject. Never there will be a human being able to master the whole, but to be able to practice this method of healing seriously, we have got to get the picture at least of the most common remedies. The best way to understand the importance of the Materia Medica in homeopathy is by understanding Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in His teachings as given to us In the Organon Of Medicine. Let me repeat only a few of His dogmas although You might have read it already over and over again. §1: The physician’s high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure, as it is termed. §2: The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of the health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable, and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles. §3: If the physician clearly perceives what is to be cured in diseases, that is to say, in every individual case of disease (knowledge of disease, indication), if he clearly perceives what is curative in medicines, that is to say, in each individual medicine (knowledge of medical powers), and if he ...

Homeopathy, Cancer & A U Ramakrishnan

Homeopathy Papers

Dr. Ramkrishnan has extensive experience in the homeopathic treatment of cancer. He has treated over 7000 cases of cancer. He describes himself a strict Kentian homeopath. However, when he used the classical methods, his results with cancer patients were usually poor. He has developed a new approach, which has brought him much greater success. In all other diseases, he remains a pure, single remedy, single dose prescriber, but in cancer he uses multiple remedies in alteration, frequent repetition of dose, and a special method of plussing. Dr. A. U. Ramakrishnan presented a seminar in Berne in June 2003. These are excerpts from Josef – Karl Graspeutner’s seminar notes. Philosophy about the treatment of cancer According to AUR, not only the genetic susceptibility and environmental influences (smoking, chemical injuries), but also the inner environment of the patient (inner and intellectual pollution, emotional shocks, sorrow, suppressed anger …) is of special importance in the analysis of cases of cancer. So the inner process of the patient must be understood and accompanied with the understanding pf the external factors. In the homoeopathic therapy of cancer the first aim is stopping of the tumour growth. For this reason both tumour and organ-specific remedies are given. Here one should be conscious of the fact, that the actual cure of the patient and to attain control over the tumour are two different processes. For the cure to be successful, not only the suitable constitutional remedy is needed, but the patient must have knowledge about his inner ...

Celebrating… 20 Years of Homoeopathic LINKS The Homeopathy Congress

Homeopathy Papers

Homeopathic LINKS - The International Journal for Classical Homeopathy This homeopathic journal in the English language was founded in 1987 by Dr. Beat Spring and has now developed into a fixture in the world of homeopathy. It connects homeopaths in more than 50 countries and promotes the exchange between differing directions and movements. Rajan Sankaran (India), Nandita Shah (India), Alfons Geukens (Belgium), Jan Scholten (Netherlands), Alize Timmerman (Netherlands), Didier Grandgeorge (France), Nancy Herrick (USA), Linda Johnston (USA), Jeremy Sherr (UK), Deborah Collins (New Zealand) and many others wrote for HL. The experienced and engaged editorial team Harry van der Zee and Corrie Hiwat always compile the correct mixture of topics relevant to your practice, philosophical and historical musings as well as service offers. Current research results, drugs testing, case studies, different materia medica, exciting discussions, book reviews and a survey about seminars and events for further training courses are published four times a year. The target group of the magazine is homeopathic doctors and alternative practitioners worldwide. Dr. Beat Springs writes in his greeting adress to the congress on the occasion of the 20th year of HL about the magazine that ‚LINKS’ stands for connection, for staying in touch. Thus a platform developed rapidly where homeopaths share ideas and experiences and exchange them with other honoeopaths. Exponents of various schools thus met for the first time in one place, disputing different insights. New ways and findings could be published without being smothered directly with quotations of the old masters. Today, only with an exceptional effort is it possible to collect, analyze, and evaluate the data and facts available about the early homeopathic hospitals and to compile them in such a fashion as to obtain an easily comprehensible, readable and compact layout. It is Heinz Eppenich who made an attempt at such a project – and his efforts have been crowned with success: Geschichte der deutschen homoeopathischen Krankenhäuser (History of the German Homeopathic Hospitals; ISBN 3-7760-1497-0; Karl F. But if one expects to see proof of the quality and effectiveness of homeopathy in the history of these clinics, one will be disappointed. The fact was that the practice of Hahnemannian homeopathy was hardly maintained in any of the early hospitals. The presentation of the hospitals will have very basic information as only the most essential facts have been mentioned.
