Luc Chaltin

1923 – 2008

Founder Newton Homeopathics

The Natural Health community has lost an important contributor, visionary and ally. Dr. Luc was taking one of his twice daily hikes in the woods on December 22, 2008 when he tripped and fell. His subsequent and unexpected death on December 28, 2008 resulted from surgery-related complications.

Dr. Luc was born on May 7, 1923 to Henri and Maria Chaltin in Kontich, Belgium. Survivors include nine children residing in Europe, his family of colleagues at Newton Homeopathics, and thousands of friends and patients worldwide. He was preceded in death by a son.

In the 1960s, Dr. Chaltin was ill with tuberculosis when he devised his own homeopathic treatment for the disease. Within six months, he said, all evidence of TB was gone. His recovery set the former engineer on a rigorous course of study that included a doctoral degree from the British Institute of Homeopathy.

Dr. Chaltin received degrees from the University of Antwerp, Clayton School of Natural Medicine, British Institute of Homeopathy, Provinciale Land-en Tuinbouw School in Belgium and attended the School of Business in Leuven, Belgium. He traveled throughout Europe and the United States treating diseases, then settled in Conyers and founded Newton Laboratories Inc., a manufacturer of homeopathic medicines, in 1987 when he was 64.

He wrote the first Advanced Clinical Homeopathy Correspondence Course, authored the first homeopathic reference book written in Dutch, hosted a radio program on organic gardening, co-hosted the syndicated “Jump Start Your Health” radio program, as well as served on a special committee to review grant applications for the Office of Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health.

In 1991, he founded the American Academy of Clinical Homeopathy. Students throughout the world have completed the Advanced Clinical Homeopathy Correspondence Course. Newton Homeopathics will continue to serve its customers and the community as Dr. Luc intended.

  • I am saddened to hear of his passing. I took his advanced homeopathic correspondence course and still practice from his teachings.
