This book by Dr. Choudhary is not a new book. It was published for the first time in Bengali in 1973 and its English translation became available in 1983. We decided to present a review to this book as in the last few years there has been a revival of interest in 50 Millecimal potencies and now a days more and more homeopaths are using these potencies. Still there is lot of confusion regarding these potencies and also there are very few texts available to guide in this matter.

This book presents the whole history of LM scale, its necessity, mode of preparation and administration etc in a very simple and lucid manner. At each step, guidelines by Dr. Hahnemann have been quoted to show the authenticity of the authors views. The author also touches upon various general topics on homeopathic philosophy such as the need for single medicine, the selection of potency, and repetition of the medicine etc. Apart from these the author also raises some controversial questions like application of medicines by olfaction and massage, application of potencies from higher to lower etc. These make the book interesting. At the end the author has given two cases of Dr. Hahnemann treated with LM potencies and also presents many of his own cases. Overall, a very useful book.

  • It is interesting to know that someone has written about 50millisimal scale that back (1973)
Also writen in such a lucid n precise way that it provokes a desire to know n study more abt this scale n use it in practise without much hesitation.
Thankyou Dr Manish for giving such a well framed feedback about the book.

  • Thank you, Dr. Grätz. I learned a lot from this article although I’m surprised that an LM18 is sort of a starting point. I thought treatment was supposed to start with LM1. I’m also surprised that taking too much can do permanent harm. Were you talking about any remedy or did you mean specifically the Lachesis? If I took Medorrhinum LM18, for example, would I be doing permanent harm if I took too many doses? Also, I want to add that I bought a copy of your book, “Gentle Medicine” and I’m glad I did. I quote from it in my upcoming (self-published) book, “Goodbye, Quacks⏤Hello, Homeopathy.” It’s about how conventional mental health care is quackery but homeopathy cures. Anyway, thank you again for writing and sharing this valuable information, Dr. Grätz.
