Case Quizes

Fifi’s Flu

influenza

This one is a bit tricky, try and guess the homeopathic remedy!

Mom, get ready; you’re on in 5-4-3-2-and…Roll Quiz!!!!!

Hello and welcome to the Hpathy Quiz, where every month you get to guess which homeopathic remedy cured yet another case!  I’m here with my side-kick Shana and her timely announcements.  Go Shana!

I have a couple of deaths to announce.

More deaths so soon?  Who is it this time?

Another cast member of “Everybody Loves Raymond” died.  I’m sure you remember that Peter Boyle (“Frank Barone”) died in 2006.  It was so long ago that I sometimes forget he’s not with us anymore.  I remember seeing him in a Season-3 “X-Files” episode called “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose.”

Dear God, Shana, you do get off-topic!

Then in 2015 Sawyer Sweeten (“Geoffrey Barone”) died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  I always found it interesting that the actors for Ray and Debra’s kids were siblings in real life.  Anyway, the latest “Raymond” cast member to leave us is Doris Roberts who died last month at age 90.

“Marie” died?

I wish we could make this the “Marie Barone” quiz like we discussed before but it’s not easy finding full episodes of the show.

I know, I hate that!  So, let me explain “Marie” to everyone.  Marie smothers Raymond.  She is inappropriately involved with him!  She is constantly interfering in Ray and Debra’s marriage, always making Debra feel inadequate as a wife and mother, but never so overtly that you could pin her down, she always very cleverly leaves you thinking that if you complain, it will reflect badly on you, not her!

Here’s a clip of Marie giving wedding advice:

Good-bye, Marie.  At least you’re back together with Frank now…..

The next death is rather unexpected.  Apparently, Prince–the rock singer–died last month at age 57.  I wasn’t aware there was anything wrong with him.

He seems to have had a drug habit of some sort, maybe prescription opiates.

But I remember reading somewhere he had the flu and I kept seeing articles last month saying he was on some sort of prescription drug.

Another Big Pharma-related death, a la Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

I don’t know a lot of Prince’s music and only know one song.  I can’t remember the name of it right now. I always thought it was funny how in an episode of The Simpsons from 1997 (“Lisa’s Sax”)…

OK, wait a minute!  Wait just a minute!!!  How do you know these obscure things?  How did you get to be the world’s foremost repository of the century’s most unimportant facts?

Mom, don’t interrupt.  (Maybe that’s why they call me “Shanapedia”!)  I forgot what I was saying.

Prince died.

Oh right.  So, Homer Simpson said, “The artist formerly known as Prince, currently known as Prince….”  Ha-ha!  Boy, that was funny!  You see, Prince went through a phase where he wanted to be known only as a symbol.  You know.  Like a logo.

No, I don’t.

But then, later, he went back to wanting to be known as Prince.  See?

I’ll just take your word for it.

“When Doves Cry”!

What?

That’s the song I know!  By Prince!

Oh.  How nice.

But I understand you like the one from 1979, “I Wanna Be Your Lover”.

I never knew who it was by!  All these years–decades!  Can you imagine?

Also, speaking of Prince, last month James Taylor…

AAAAH!!!!  James Taylor????  Again?????

Are you going to scream everytime I so much as utter the words James or Taylor?

That is my plan.

Anyway, James did a tribute to Prince at his show in Lexington, Kentucky.  He played some of “Purple Rain”, I thought it was a very nice tribute.

Are there anymore deaths?

Billy Paul apparently died last month at 81.

I had no idea he lived that long.  Apparently he had been in the hospital after being diagnosed with cancer.  Also I just have to announce that last month was the 20th anniversary of the cartoon show, “Dexter’s Laboratory”.

Shana!!!!!  Aren’t you going to say anything about Billy Paul’s million-seller?

You mean, “Me And Mrs. Jones”?

Yes, that!!!!

Oh, right.  What about it?

Aren’t you going to play it?

Oh.  Good idea!  Ladies and gentlemen, here is North Philadelphia native, Billy Paul, on Soul Train from 1972 with “Me And Mrs. Jones”:

So, anyway, I was saying that I was only 24 for a week and for some reason that made me feel old to see that “Dexter’s Laboratory” was twenty years old on April 28th.

It’s so funny how Dexter’s parents were so clueless that they had no idea Dexter had built a world-class space laboratory in the attic!  One of my favorite episodes is the one called “Filet of Soul”.

Again with the episode titles?  Who memorizes these things?!!!

Mom, you made me forget what I was gonna say!!!!   And I do memorize titles of tv episodes so you will just have to get used to it.

Can you memorize anything useful?  Like, the cards in a Blackjack deck?

Mom, I’m trying to recount my favorite episode of “Dexter’s Laboratory”!  Dexter and his older sister Dee Dee ended up chasing the ghost of their dead fish all over the house in the middle of the night, trying to lay him to rest.

Oh yeah, that’s comedy!

I’m not sure why I found that episode funny.  Anyway….Another great episode is one called “Labretto”.

Again with the show titles!!!!!

It’s basically the story of Dexter’s birth, told as an opera.

Can we possibly move this part of the quiz along?

Also I forgot to mention this before but my favorite tv show, “Invader Zim”, is now a comic book.  Do you want me to explain the premise?

No!

OK, so, finally, I have a very important announcement to make.  I’m seeing Paul McCartney at the Phillies Stadium on July 12th!  Mom can’t go because the seats were sold out almost as fast as they went on sale!

I could have gone, but I wouldn’t have been able to sit next to you, which would have been weird!  Plus, I really don’t want to be subjected to “Hey Jude’s” never-ending big finish!

Then think of this as me saving you–not only from that, but, “Live and Let Die” and “We’re So Sorry Uncle Albert”.

Yes, thank you!

Anyway, There will be a full report in the August ezine.  Also did I mention that our friend on the radio, Andre Gardner, is planning to be there?

What good is that going to do us?  He’ll be in the good seats!

July is going to be insane.  My high school friend, Bijan Welch, is visiting from Alaska the week after the McCartney concert; also isn’t your friend from high school visiting the week of the Democratic National Convention?

Yes, we’re going to demonstrate against the Democratic National Committee for what they did to socialist candidate Bernie Sanders!

Bernie S

(Scheduling debates for when no one would be watching, vote-counting irregularities, mal-functioning voting machines, missing polling places, voters purged from the rolls, etc. )

OK, Mom, calm down, there’s plenty of time to take to the streets!  Right now, all we need is a case!

Hold on, let me check… I think we have one!  It’s a little tricky though, I must warn you!

happy mother’s day

Thanks, same to you!

i hope you are enjoying the special day;

my daughter has been having a flu, and a terrible headache

Yikes!

i have tried everything … to no avail

any ideas?

You’d have to fill out the acute case questionnaire, which is here: https://elainelewis.hpathy.com/acute-case-questionnaire/

her face is red, fever, headache – forehead area – so i went with BELL

she started wanting cold water and still no relief of the headache – so i went with PHOS

she started weeping and was frustrated she still had a headache – and started coughing – sounded croupy – so i went with ACON

Now here we are

Photo sensitive

worse noises

fever – hot and dry.

wants a dark room, but otherwise does not know what she wants

wants cold water, at times

stuffy nose, and the lip is getting slight red – from the drainage

she is blowing her nose and sometimes coughing up – spit (not really mucous)

i just gave her BYRONIA – but hope you have the magic idea

You’d really have to fill out the questionnaire.

White tongue

wants to be carried around the house (like when we switch rooms)

i gave BRYONIA at 8am and again 11am … seems to be responding well to that.

Temperature: 102.9 ->102.3->101.8->101.6
still just lying there – does not want any stimulation but looks more alert.
