Eosinophilia

Information about eosinophelia causes, eosinophelia symptoms, treatment with homeopathy medicine, or homeopathic treatment for eosinophelia.

Eosinophilia is an abnormal accumulation of eosinophils in the blood or any tissue.

Eosinophil function – eosinophils plays an important role in both combating infections (especially parasitic) and allergic response, through the release of cytotoxic molecules, reactive oxygen species, and cytokines. Thus, common causes of eosinophilia include infections and allergies.

Eosinophilia causes

  • Parasitic infection
  • Psoriasis
  • Allergic diseases (hay fever, urticaria, bronchial asthma)
  • Pemphigus
  • Procarbazine
  • Hypereosinophilic syndrome
  • Recovery from acute infection
  • Certain drugs
  • Malignant neoplasm
  • Aminosalicylic acid
  • Collagen vascular disease
  • Collagen vascular disease

Eosinophilia symptoms and sign

The symptoms of eosinophilia depends upon underlying condition. For example eosinophilia due to parasitic infection may show abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, eosinophilia due to asthmatic condition may have symptoms such as wheezing and breathlessness.

Eosinophilia due to medicine reaction

Skin rashes will be there.

Some other symptoms of eosinophilia may include:

  • Lymph node enlargement
  • Weight loss
  • Night sweats
  • Rashes on skin
  • Tingling and numbness

 Investigations for eosinophilia

Basic investigations

Labs- peripheral smear, C3, C4, bilirubin, CBCD, ESR, serology for parasites.

Microbiology – blood culture, urine culture and sensitivity, stool C and S.

Imagins – CXR, CT scan.

Special – bronchoscopy- if pulmonary eosinophilia.

Diagnostic issues – peripheral Eosinophil counts – as eosinophils are primarily tissue dwelling, they are likely several hundred fold more abundant in affected tissues than represented in peripheral blood. Furthermore, the development of an intercurrent bacterial or viral infection may lead to suppression of blood eosinophilia until the superimposed acute infection has resolved. Thus, elevated or even normal blood Eosinophil counts in a febrile patient should prompt investigations for eosinophilia.

Homeopathic treatment of eosinophilia

Homeopathy is one of the most popular holistic systems of medicine. The selection of remedy is based upon the theory of individualization and symptoms similarity by using holistic approach. This is the only way through which a state of complete health can be regained by removing all the sign and symptoms from which the patient is suffering. The aim of homeopathy is not only to treat eosinophilia but to address its underlying cause and individual susceptibility. As far as therapeutic medication is concerned, several remedies are available to treat eosinophilia that can be selected on the basis of cause, sensations and modalities of the complaints.  For individualized remedy selection and treatment, the patient should consult a qualified homeopathic doctor in person.
