Renal artery stenosis or aneurysm – causes loss of blood supply to the kidney.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis depends upon cause of the kidney pain; some diagnostic tests are given below:

Urine examination – routine urine examination including ph, RBC, WBC, sugar. Urine cytology, urine culture etc

Blood examination

Intravenous pylogram – to detect any abnormality in renal function and anatomical changes in the kidney

Renal Arteriography – to diagnose aneurysms

Ultrasonography – to detect stones, cystic swelling, enlarged kidney etc

CT scan – useful in diagnosis of renal tumor
