Homeopathy for Thyroid Problems

Iodine – is a great remedy for goiter, simple and the exophthalmic variety; in this we have the exophthalmos, the thyroid enlargement, the tachycardia, and the tremor, all characteristic of iodine, in the simple, soft variety it is also useful.

The general lymphatic glandular involvement throughout the body is an additional indication for iodine. A depressed mental condition is also frequently present.

Spongia Tosta – a remedy long used in treatment of enlarged thyroids. it is also most suitable to the exophthalmic variety. Cardiac tremor is characteristic, in fact the heart symptoms of Spongia are quite similar to those of many cases of grave’s disease.

Lycopus Virginicus – many observers speak highly of this remedy in the exophthalmic variety of goiter. Its chief indication seem to be constriction of chest, weak pulse, which is remittent, tremulous and rapid. Cynosis. Sometimes the heart’s action is tumultuous and forcible.

Thyroidine – produces anemia, emaciation, sweating and a persistent frontal headache and muscular weakness. It exercises a regulating influence over nutrition, growth and development. Tachycardia and exophthalmic goiter with palpitation from least excitement, easy excitability of heart and dry skin.

Sulphur – one of the great remedies for exophthalmic goiter.

Natrum Mur – exophthalmic goiter in subjects of a cachectic appearance; there is palpitation of the heart and the heart beat seems to shake the entire body.

Ferrum met – enlarged thyroid; protruding eyes; palpitation of heart; excessive nervousness; marked debility; frequent tremors with weariness, exhausting sweats.

Ferrum Iod – enlargement of thyroid gland, palpitation of heart and excessive nervousness; running upstairs causes violent beating of heart and pain or top of head; circulation excited, heart seems to force the blood violently through whole body; weakness and bruised sensation in all parts of the body; restless sleep, with frequent waking.

Amyl Nit – great remedy for thyroid symptoms, eyes protruding, staring; fundus as well as conjunctiva injected; frequent flushes of heat in face, oppressed respiration.

Phosphorous – sensation as if the eye were swollen and pshed out of the orbit; palpitation; frequent fainting, sudden syncope, lying as if dead; hands and feet numb, clumsy.
