Information about tonsillitis symptoms, causes, complications, tonsillitis treatment with homeopathy medicine, or homeopathic treatment for tonsillitis.

The tonsils are located in the back of the nose and throat. They aid in protecting the respiratory tract from infection but frequently become inflamed and infected while doing their job.

Tonsillitis is an inflammatory infection of the tonsils caused by invasion of the mucus membrane by microorgansisms, usually hemolytic streptococci or viruses. The symptoms are sore throat, difficulty in swallowing, fever, malaise, and enlarged lymph nodes on both sides of the neck. The infection lasts about five days.

Causes of tonsillitis

Usually a bacterial (often streptococcus, or “strep” as it is called) or a virus infection.

Risk factors

  • Young children day care centers )both children and teachers)
  • Living, working, or being in crowded places.
  • Smoking
  • Having a chronic illness, such as diabetes.

Sign and symptoms

  • Sore throat and pain when you swallow
  • Tonsils are redder than normal
  • Throat may have white or yellow patches
  • Swollen glands on either side of jaw
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Ear pain
  • Loss of appetite may be there in young children

Complications of tonsillitis

Chronic tonsillitis may result in chronic upper airway obstruction, causing sleep apnea or sleep disturbances, cor pulmonale, failure to thrive, eating or swallowing disorders, and speech abnormalities. Febrile seizures, otitis media, cardiac valvular disease, abscesses, Glomerulonephritis, subacute bacterial endocarditis, and abscessed cervical lymph nodes may also be noted. Scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, and heart disease may also occur, but these conditions are not as such common.

Diagnosis of tonsillitis

  • Throat culture may reveal the infecting organism.
  • A complete blood count usually reveals leukocytosis
  • Needle biopsy helps differentiate cellulitis from abscess.

Homeopathic treatment for tonsillitis

Homeopathy is one of the most popular holistic systems of medicine. The selection of remedy is based upon the theory of individualization and symptoms similarity by using holistic approach. This is the only way through which a state of complete health can be regained by removing all the sign and symptoms from which the patient is suffering. The aim of homeopathy is not only to treat tonsilitis but to address its underlying cause and individual susceptibility. As far as therapeutic medication is concerned, several remedies are available to treat tonsillitis that can be selected on the basis of cause, sensations and modalities of the complaints.  For individualized remedy selection and treatment, the patient should consult a qualified homeopathic doctor in person. There are following remedies which are helpful in the treatment of tonsillitis:

    hi,
    i’m kadambari.
i’m suffering from tonsillitis, from almost 3 or more years.
in the very beginning the tonsils grew. but they were not very big. but today they are bigger then marble balls. the lingual tonsils also grow.
i got a lot of phlegm.
i’m having pain on the left side of my head, as i breathe with my left nostril only.
i went to a homeopathic physician for the check up he also told me that the right nostril has increased sinus. causing no passage of air through the right one.
and i’m avoiding anything that is sour and cold.
i want to have homeopathic treatment for this. please guide me.
