Strike a Blow for Homeopathy

Editorial November 2016

In a previous editorial I stated that homeopathy needs wide popular support in order to grow and to thrive.  For this support to happen, people need to learn what homeopathy is, and this often starts with a Google search.  Last week I typed “homeopathy” into Google and what do you suppose came up?

The first website was the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).  Sounds like a friendly website, right?  They had a list of key points for homeopathy:

  • There is little evidence to support homeopathy as an effective treatment for any specific condition.
  • Some products labeled as homeopathic can contain substantial amounts of active ingredients and therefore could cause side effects and drug interactions.
  • Several key concepts of homeopathy are inconsistent with fundamental concepts of chemistry and physics.

Clearly the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health has become just another Pharma surrogate.   I moved on to the second website, which was Wikipedia. Here I found:

“Homeopathy is a pseudoscience – a belief that is incorrectly presented as scientific. Homeopathic preparations are not effective for treating any condition.”

The third website was QUACKWATCH, which stated:

“Homeopathic remedies ….are the only category of quack products legally marketable as drugs.”

People trying to learn about homeopathy have to work their way through this gauntlet of propaganda, and may never get any further.  What can we do about this?  There’s actually a simple solution and it won’t cost a penny. On your own website, add links to your favorite homeopathy websites, such as Homeopathy for Everyone: Hpathy.com.  Tell all your friends to add such links to their websites with ‘Homeopathy’ in the link text. If you have a homeopathy school, add some links. By linking our websites, we all stand together. There are millions of us and we can shift the rankings so that people searching Google learn the truth instead of propaganda. Do it now and strike a blow for homeopathy.
