Homeopathy in Mexico 2010

Summary

Homeopathic medicine has been recognized in Mexico since 1896. Actually, it is more popular every year. We have two schools that grant the M. D. degree, five post graduates schools, and two homeopathic hospitals in our country. Since February 2002 the LMHI (Liga Medicorum) National Vice President has worked on a committee with the Secretary of Health to create legislation around the teaching of homeopathic medicine in Mexico. The LMHI minimum basic program for teaching homeopathy in America, is now the guide for this committee. In this committee, fifteen school programs for Master Degrees and postgraduate studies, covering the basic requirements of teaching Homoeopathic medicine, have been approved.

The Ministry of Health has also taken steps regarding the planning of new hospitals and health institutions, to be used by homeopathic physicians. The National Homoeopathic Hospital, now under reconstruction, is guided by the General Direction of Coordination and Development of the Federal Hospital of Reference, and it is the core of a pilot plan for installing doctor’s offices in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health. At present, homoeopathic doctor’s offices now operate successfully in three large hospitals in Mexico City: “Manuel G. González Hospital”, “General Hospital”, and “Juárez Hospital”.

ã The Hemeroteca Homeopática del Centro (Irapuato, Guanajuato), is the largest of

its kind in our country. It has a national and international collections of magazines,

newspapers and periodical publications obtained through interchange with other

countries. The service is open to everyone. Moreover the Hemeroteca offer a special

service: it will send articles and issues from the collections to homeopathic physicians

in all the Mexican Republic territory.

Dr. Fernando Darío François-Flores was born in Mexico City in Nov. 16, 1962. He studied medicine and surgery in the Autonomous Metropolitan University and graduated there in 1985. He graduated from the Postgraduate School of Homeopatía de México, A.C. in 1987, and obbtained a Homeopathic Medical Title in the Free Homeopathic School in 2004.

He has taught both regular and intensive homeopathy courses in Mexico and Europe. Since 1986 he assisted the General Assemblies and Reunions of Homeopatía de México, A.C. In this Institution he was Treasurer (1989 – 1991), Teaching Director (1991-’93 and 1995 -’97), President (1997 -’99 and 2003 – 2005), and has been teaching for 15 years.

Since ’97 he also taught in the Free Homeopathic School. He was National Vice President for Mexico at the Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis ( 2001 ’04). He is Secretary for Archives of LMHI.

Member of the International Network for the History of Homoeopathy.
