Topic: black spots on tongue Posted: 12 Feb. 09 at 17:15 |

I have black spots on my tongue, and wonder what they are, and if they mean anything. When I get up on mornings, the tongue looks pink and normal. But during the day, I see the black spots about the middle of the tongue. No pain or anything like that. Thanks.

It may be some localised infection or collection of black blood due to trauma or something else. Please consult your doctor for visual examination.Without thorough investigation nothing can be suggested.

EddieB please stick to sajjadakram's suggestion.
BTW my mother used to say that one gets those spots after a bout of typhoid. One homeopath attributed it to presence of worms (along with raised papules on the tongue).
is there any such indication?

Onxy, thanks for your info. No, there is no indication for either. These spots are not real dark in color, and on mostly later in the day. I will certainly have a doctor check these out soon. Thanks again for your response.

the colour of the tongue indicates remedies certain please be guided according to the other indication as given below and better consult a Homoeopath and this I am providing you for information sake since I do not know any other details since homoeopathy needs totality of the symptoms and tongue indicator will be easier to get to narrow down and arrive similar remedy and not the sole prescription with tongue indicator alone which please note.
Tongue: maybe black on back and on the sides of the tongue; otherwise: white and swollen (Bismuthum: 1x to 6x)
Tongue: black, dry, cracked, blisters, swollen; no thirst (Lycopodium: Tincture to 200x)
Tongue: black; Halitosis; Ulcers; dark saliva (Mercurius Dulcis: 3x to 6x)
Tongue: black, dry, thirsty, paralyzed tongue (Opium: 3x to 200x)
Tongue: black or brown, dry, swollen (Vipera: 12x)
