  • Well, what makes a school official?
    at
    http://www.belgique-infos.be/official-school-or-free-school/?lang=en#.U8kvEbFn0mA
    I found the following definitions:

“All official schools (écoles officielles, organized by national, regional or local government) adhere to a set of principles and values (search for truth, scientific objectivity, openness, tolerance, etc.), without promoting any single philosophical doctrine or religion. A class on secular morality or religion is taught, depending on parents’ choices.

Many free schools (écoles libres) are associated with an organized religion (most of these are Catholic, but Jewish, Protestant and Muslim schools also exist). Some free schools are secular or are organized with respect to a specific project.

Unless they are not recognized (and therefore not subsidized) by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, schools in Wallonia and Brussels all teach the same knowledge and skills for a given level (uniform curriculum).”

So why should it be impossible to open and have recognized an official school teaching homeopathy?

  • Hi Siggy,

An article in this issue from the ECCH answers your question.

    https://hpathy.com/homeopathy-papers/belgian-government-legislates-restrict-availability-homeopathy-citizens/

The key paragraph in that article is :

“Homeopathy up until now was only taught in private schools, whether to practitioners or medical doctors. Moreover, the deans of the faculties of medicine have recently declared that homeopathy does not belong in a medical curriculum and they refuse to allow it to be taught at their universities. This means that in the future no one, doctors included, will be able to undertake the required education to be able to practise homeopathy as required by the Law.”

The law was an underhanded way of sabotaging homeopathy.

  • Thank you Alan.
I only wanted to suggest that the term ‘official school’ carries a chance for a workaround. AND, also Belgians have to obey European Laws.
I really hope that the ECCH and other organizations – also student organizations – find a way to correct this ridiculous decree.

Great cartoon, indeed :-). You really know to hit the nail on the head – always.

  • This is exactly what is going to happen in the US with the push for ACHENA accredited schools. Homeopathy will disappear. Government regulation will swallow homeopathy, digest it and spit out some watered down, stinking version of something that resembles homeopathy but definitely ISN’T!
