A brief introduction to Dr M L Dhawale Memorial
Trust’s
Rural Homoeopathic Hospital, Palghar
Introduction
The
Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Trust (MLDT) was established in 1987
to carry on the work of Dr. M. L. Dhawale, an eminent Homoeopathic
clinician, educationist and a compassionate human being. The MLDT’s
health care services motto is: “Where no doctor reaches, we will
reach. Where patients cannot afford costly services, we will try
to provide at minimum costs”. The MLDT has at its core the mission
of promoting positive health in a cost effective manner. This is
not an easy task considering the curative paradigm of health that
still dominates most of the current practices.
The Positive concept of Health as enunciated by the WHO takes us
far beyond the Curative and Preventive aspect of Disease to the
Promotive aspect of Health. Thus we are no longer confining ourselves
to seeing the realization of this concept through the efforts of
the medical community alone. It has multiple dimensions in which
the involvement of the community has assumed paramount importance.
MLDT
has been engaged in Homoeopathic education, clinical services, research
and community health for over 20 years. It functions on the principle
of tri-coordinate care – patient care, learner care and knowledge
care propounded and deeply imbibed by the founder. The Trust has
strived to realize this essential teaching through its various activities:
·Patient care through the various service outlets
in the urban as well as rural areas
·Learner care through its seven major educational
activities; and
·Knowledge care through its research projects
(accredited by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health &
Family Welfare, New Delhi).
