Old Symptoms

If old obscured symptoms, complained of perhaps months or years before the first prescription was made, reappear and trouble the patient, they should be carefully noted, and their course observed, but these symptoms should not be hastily prescribed for until a picture of the proper remedy is presented. Such conditions frequently appear and then disappear of themselves, never to return.

Four Ear Tips from H. R. Arndt M.D.

Carbo vegetabilis relieves mechanical obstruction to the Eustachian tubes from swelling of the tonsils.

Silicea has a direct action on the middle layer of the membranum tympani. It also promotes suppuration, and is invaluable in obscure ear troubles. Collections in the Eustachian tubes are relieved by it.

Causticum has been found valuable in the non-suppurative proliferating form of catarrh, and relieves paralysis of the auditory muscles.

Sulphur meets offensive purulent discharge with eruption on face and body, and relieves ear complaints from suppressed discharges and eruption.

Aversion to Alcohol

Every Homoeopath knows, or ought to know, that every remedy which has aversion to spirituous liquors among its indications also shows aversion to milk or troubles from its use, and vice versa.

The Lesser Writings of C. M. F. Von Boenninghausen

 Ailments from Multiple Causes

There are often several causes, and one remedy is not suitable for them all.  In this case give one remedy after another; select first one for the worst symptoms, or still better, for the symptoms which appeared last, or the cause which acted last. Always give but one remedy, and only when this does no more good, another one.

Mucuna Urens

Experiences have taught me that this tincture is a more perfect remedy for the cure

of haemorrhoids than any other remedy known. I rely upon it more faithfully than I do upon Hamamelis, AescuIus etc. I frequently use the mother tincture, one drop daily.

Cina

Cina is most powerful for the elimination of round worms. The sickly appearance of the face, the blue rings about the eyes, and the grinding of the teeth associated with canine hunger, give a perfect picture for the drug.  With the oxyures (pinworms), which appear about the anus and get into the rectum, Cina is of no avail, because the symptoms caused by them are not symptoms of Cina.

Fluoric Acid –Right and Left

This remedy affects the right ear, right side and nape of the neck, right side of the back, teeth of the left side, left hypochondrium  and left side of the abdomen.

Viola Tricolor

The principal use for this remedy is for nocturnal emissions accompanied by very vivid dreams. They are not very exhausting, but cause an uneasiness of mind ; also loss of seminal fluid at stool and in the urine .

Suppression

Consider the use of opium and its derivatives for the suppression of coughs. If this treatment is continued for any length of time…we find the patient has become subject to a condition far more serious, for he has developed a chronic state of night cough; each time it is suppressed it is driven still deeper, and the patient soon develops fever, night sweats, and a general hectic condition. The danger of this suppression is very great, as can easily be noticed, especially in pneumonias, where the least suppression is often fatal.

Hahnemann Writes to Constantine Hering

“Oh, that I could, before I leave this earth, clasp you in my arms to testify to you

my joy at the inexampled zeal which you so efficiently bestow upon the restoration of the miserable, and the extension of the beneficent science with such high courage. Continue to prosecute your work as heretofore until it be time to return again to Europe in good health, and hold dear your true friend, Samuel Hahnemann.”  August the i6th, 1829

Aloe and Constipation

Obstinate constipation and Aloe: I was called to treat a child five years of age suffering from birth with a most obstinate form of constipation. He had to be forced and held to the stool crying and screaming all the while being totally unable to pass any faeces even after an enema. I then gave a few doses of Aloe 200th and cured the whole trouble quickly and permanently.

Dr. E.B.Nash

Abscess of Breast

A Lachesis patient was suffering from abscess of the lower part of the left breast that was terribly sensitive, blue and accompanied with severe lumbar backache, which gave her no peace for nearly a week of suffering.  I gave her Lachesis 200, one dose with instruction to call me if she got worse. I received no call that night, but the next morning she came to my office all smiles – and no more backache.  The abscess broke about two hours after the Lachesis was administered.  I am glad that I have another lance beside Silica.

Erigeron oanadense, when the blood is expelled in the shape of dark coagula; it is likewise recommended for passive venous hemorrhage generally.

Hamamelis, recommended for passive venous hemorrhage, although it has likewise been found an efficient remedy in active arterial hemorrhage.

Determination

The first practitioners of homoeopathy in New York City were subjected to persecution as well as prosecution by the opposing (allopathic) school, but the first open act of mean hostility was displayed in 1843, when Drs. Hull and Wells applied for membership in the Kings County Medical Society. The applications had been made in due form, all the requirements had been complied with, their qualifications were unquestioned, for they were thoroughly educated physicians, but they were rejected because they were homeopaths, and for no other reason.

Wells accepted his rejection, but Hull, of more determined character, brought the matter into court, and after the suit had dragged along through sixteen years, it was finally decided in his favor. Then the society with much condescension offered him a seat in its councils, but with his characteristic determination he coldly declined the honor.
