Monte’s Abscess

An English Bull Dog named Monte developed a large lump on the side of its neck. It was first treated by an allopath who drained it under anesthesia. A month later the abscess was still not better. I examined the wound and sensed that there was a foreign body in it. I gave Silica 200 twice a day for three days. After 5 days an awn* (a bristlelike plant appendage) popped out of the abscess, after which it healed nicely!

Morphine and Chamomilla

When an allopath gives Morphine to an oversensitive patient, it may relieve her pain for a little while, but on will come the awful eructations, and she will retch and vomit, and continue to retch when there is nothing to vomit. Chamomilla will stop that, the first dose, in a few minutes, and it is the only remedy you will need.

Accommodate Acute Cravings

In chronic disease you should stop the chronic craving. It has something in it that is detrimental to the patient. The very reverse is true in acute craving; these (acids, lager beer etc.) should be supplied in typhoid, in gestation (if not craved before) as these cravings are on a nutritive plane and medicine does not supply it rapidly enough. Only momentary cravings must be supplied. In the pregnancy, the mother must not be indulged if she had the craving all along before pregnancy; but if not and it is a craving incident in the state of pregnancy, let her have it.

Hydrastis

In all forms of Stomatitis of children it is valuable — in simple ulceration, in mercurial sore mouths, and in Stomatitis Materna. We have found obstinate cases, in which other remedies had failed, yield to a wash of Hydrastis used several times a day.

Three Tips from W. A. DEWEY, M. D

Mezereum

Mezereum is most useful in ciliary neuralgia when there is a cold feeling in the eye, and it is one of the best remedies for neuralgias which are reflex from decayed teeth.

Kali Chloratum

Kali chloratum or the chlorate of potash is useful in diphtheria when gangrenous spots appear; ulcers with foul secretions and offensive discharges. It is one of the best remedies to prevent extension to the nasal mucous membrane.

Mercurius

Mercurius is one of our good remedies in abscess. It comes in after Belladonna when pus has formed. It favors the formation of pus especially in the lower potencies, and is especially indicated in glandular abscesses; the pus is unhealthy, greenish in tint, and quite thin and fluid.

Suppression of Diarrhea

You will see Acetic acid recommended for the diarrhoea in phthisis. You had better let such conditions alone, unless they are very marked. The phthisical patient is better off with a little diarrhea, a loose morning stool. It is the same with night sweats; if he does not have them he will have something more violent.

Lectures on Homoeopathic Materia Medica – James Tyler Kent, M.D.

Abies Nigra

A powerful and long-acting remedy, useful whenever the characteristic stomach symptoms are present.Sensation of a lump that hurts, as if a hard-boiled egg had lodged in the cardiac end of stomach; continual distressing constriction just above the pit of the stomach, as if everything were knotted up. Total loss of appetite in morning, but great craving for food at noon and night.

Four Tips from George Royal, M.D.

Sepsis

Rhus is one of the best remedies for sepsis I have found. Whether for prophylactic or curative purposes. Where the condition develops rapidly and the symptoms appear, especially the restlessness, diarrhea and tongue, Rhus will seldom fail.

Hyoscyamus in Aphonia

Hyoscyamus is one of our best remedies for acute aphonia caused by emotion, especially fright.

Kali Bromatum in Acne

Kali brom. is one of our best remedies for acne which comes with every monthly period.

Phosphorus

Phosphorus is one of our best remedies for nasal polypus (Sanguinaria) which bleed profusely and interfere with the breathing.

Textbook of Homeopathic Materia Medica – George Royal, M.D.

Ipecacuanha

Ipecacuanha is a well-known intermittent fever remedy in our school. Jahr recommends it in the beginning of all cases, unless there are special indications for some other remedy, and says, “By pursuing this course I have cured many cases of fever and ague by the first prescription, thus saving myself a good deal of unnecessary seeking and comparing.”

E. B. Nash, M. D. Leaders In Homoeopathic Therapeutics

Natrum Muriaticum

Natrum muriaticum, was a favourite remedy of Dr. John Clarke’s for colds. He states that it is infallible for a cold commencing with sneezing, followed by loss of taste and smell. Discharge is thin and watery like white of egg.

Dorothy Shepherd – Heal Thyself – December 1944

Prolapsus Uteri Post Partum in Cows

There are as far as I know two main causes and of course 2 different remedies. After birth the cow goes on pushing madly. It’s often a fleshy, sound heifer. Kent’s repertory has a rubric : “Female, prolapsus uteri straining from with one single remedy : Aurum. It works wonderfully. When you arrive, give the cow some granules of Aurum C 5 between lip and gum, then loosen your tie, pick off the placenta and you’ll see that the huge purple mass gets smaller and smaller and light pink. You can then push it back, even without epidural anesthesia, and fill it with fresh water to get rid of every remaining fold, which would let the cow push again.

The other etiology, mostly on elder, worn-out cows, is due to relaxed fiber. Then Sepia becomes useful. If the cow goes on pushing, you can add Aurum (congestion and intolerance to pain). Don’t try this on sows! The prolapsed uterus is too long, veins and arteries are too much stretched and this causes deadly circulatory disturbances.

FDA Inaction

The diabetes drug Actos was recalled in France and Germany in 2011 because of the risks of bladder cancer and congestive heart failure. The FDA merely issued a warning. Since then two new studies have confirmed the bladder cancer risk, yet no recall has been issued in the U.S.

Eczema

If eczema is exclusively seated on and behind the ears, it is very obstinate; hence, the remedies must not be changed too often. The best remedies are: Mercurius, Iodium, Kali bichromicum, Baryta and, Sulphur.

Headlines from the Past

Their models were on public exhibition during the first week in February 4 to 9 in the large gallery of the American fine arts society, 215 West Fifty-seventh street. New York. “

Ledum for the Horse

My gelding is 14 years old and I have never ridden him (he is the son of my mare) because he has a huge neck and laminitis. He has to have Bermuda hay and thyroid medication. He cannot have mesquite beans, alfalfa or grass or he can barely walk. We live in Arizona and after the rains the grass was so green I held them out for an hour a day for 2 days and Don could barely put weight on one foot. So I got out the symphytum officinale 30 c and gave him 3 pellets in the side of his mouth as he ate hay. Within an hour he was walking like never before. Now I give him 3 pellets once a week and hold him to grass an hour a day with no effects. What a blessing that he has an answer for his pain.
