FTC to Investigate Homeopathy
On Monday, September 21, 2015 in Washington, DC, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will hold a hearing on homeopathic products. They will investigate whether homeopathy works and if its advertising claims are accurate. This occurs on the heels of the FDA hearings last month.
Arthritic Opthalmia
In well developed arthritic ophthalmia, Aconite 30, from six to twelve doses, one every four or six hours should be given. The intolerable pains, and the inflammation will either be improved decidedly, or at least checked in their course. Then Bell 30, should be given every 24 or 72 hours. After the third dose there will be a decrease in severity of the pains and inflammation. At times Bell will act better, when an occasional dose of Sulphur 60, is interposed.

Corneal Opacity
A man, aged 25, had considerable opacity of the right cornea, on the spot where there formerly had been pustule. He had also been blind in the left eye for twenty three years from an opacity of the cornea of that eye. Abdominal Stitch in Pregnancy
Women often experience a stitch under the false ribs or in the sides toward the fourth month or later. Nux vomica30th has always succeeded in dissipating this in a few days. If the woman is of a lymphatic temperament, we should prefer Pulsatilla.
Emotional stress in pregnancy
If a sudden fright should produce anxiety, suffocation, trembling in the limbs, etc., they should immediately smell (olfaction) of Opium. If some time has elapsed since the event, they should smell of Aconite If symptoms were the effect of a sudden joy, they should smell of Coffea. If they were the effect of violent anger, Chamomilla If Cham is not followed by immediate relief, then use Bryonia Nux vom and Colocynth may also be useful in these cases. If the impression was sudden and long continued, they should smell of Ignatia.

Otology Case
I had occasion to prescribe picric acid in the case of a young lady who had suffered from a series of furuncles in the meatus. Picric acid relieved the symptoms, but Hepar sulph calcarea was necessary to complete the cure. A relapse and the necessity for a repetition of the picric acid suggested to me a combination of these two drugs. I therefore obtained through Boericke & Tafel the compound salt. It is called Calcarea picrata, and it has been used in a number of cases in the hospital during this session. It bids fair to warrant the late Dr. Hering’s statement, that the combination of two remedies in a compound gives the curative action of each in a greater degree.

AMA takes sides against medical free choice
The American Medical Association (AMA), one of the largest and most influential associations of medical doctors in the country, today endorsed putting an end to religious exemptions to immunization. “Under new policy, the AMA will seek more stringent state immunization requirements to allow exemptions only for medical reasons,” the organization said in a press release.

Deadly Vaccines
Of 52 children recently vaccinated in Mexico, two are dead and 37 are hospitalized. They were vaccinated for tuberculosis, rotavirus and hepatitis B. In the UK, the government recently agreed to pay $90 million to victims of the swine flu vaccine that had caused permanent brain damage in children.

In the U.S., Dr. Paul Offit is often quoted as an expert on vaccine damage. He claims there is no connection between vaccines and autism. He has also owned patents on vaccines and profited as much as $46 million from them.
New law would prevent labeling GMO’s
In the U.S. the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2014 (H.R. 4432) will nullify any laws that might require the labeling of foods containing GMOs. Even the misleading name of the bill suggests an intention to leave us in the dark. Currently, 64 countries around the world require labeling of foods containing GMOs.

People checked with a heart CT scan after seeing a doctor for chest pain have no less risk of heart attack, dying, or being hospitalized months later than those who take a simple treadmill test or other older exam. The federal government funded the $40 million study — the largest ever of heart imaging. Radiation can raise the risk of developing cancer, yet few doctors are choosing heart tests that do not require radiation, the study revealed. “It’s such a bad reflection on American medicine,” said one independent expert, Dr. Eric Topol “Look at how much radiation they gave these poor people,” equivalent to 500 to 700 regular X-rays, he said. “That is despicable.”

Cure of Twenty-Six Years’ Deafness
Mr. G. F. Gonzalez, aged 33, a druggist clerk by occupation, was deaf for 26 years of right ear accompanied by suppuration. No apparent primary cause to fall back upon. Commenced to get deaf little by little till he could hear nothing from that ear. General allopathic prescriptions were used from by different doctors but he never got the least improvement. Being an allopathic druggist, he never tried Homoeopathy until he came to me. I prescribed syringing the ear twice a day with hot water and a dose of Hepar sulph. 6x trit., twice a day for a week, then rest a week and commence again with Silicea 6x trit., in the same way. I had him insert a cotton pledget into the ear twice a day, moistened in Glycerine and a little Boric acid. This simple treatment cured him in seven weeks, and now he hears better by the right ear than he ever did by the left one. What the old school system could not do in 26 years, Homoeopathy did in seven weeks!

Death Sign
An extraordinary opening of the eyelids, so as to give the eye an appearance of protruding from the orbits, is invariably a sign that death will occur in twenty four hours. Where only one eye is wide open and the other remains normal, death will not follow quite so rapidly, perhaps in a week or so. Fix your patients attention on some light, or any object, so as to make him open his eyes, when the phenomenon will appear.

That case was reported by Dr. Theodore J. Rueckert in 1856 so we can’t ask him. However it’s always wise to give a remedy time to work. One could start with a single dose, then wait and see what happens and repeat only if necessary.
