Hello Dr Khalsa,
My kitty has just been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and I am getting her started right away on a low carb high protein diet. I am wondering what homeopathic remedy or remedies I could give her. She is of a timid temperament, easily startled, anxious and does not get along with the other cats very well (I am a multi cat household) She has regular access to the outdoors but is in a large enclosed property. (I have read Dr Richard Pitcairn who suggests belladonna 30c at the outset, wait a week then give Thuja 30c. ) If I use liquid potencies, how many drops of the 30c should I give her?

Veterinarians do not always recommend the same thing. There really are no generic remedies for diabetes. I would recommend a few things. The good news is that cats can work their way out of diabetes with holistic care. The first thing I would suggest is Dr. Ramaeker’s Professional Veterinary Formula. You can go on their site and check out their products. You can even call and ask for a free sample of the chewable tablet to see if your cat will eat it. After that, you need a veterinarian to order it for you as the Professional formula is only sold to veterinarians. Because Dr. Ramaeker is my friend and colleague, he has allowed me to carry the Professional formula on my site and you can order it from www.deservingpets.com. I have had several dogs become non-diabetic with this product and they do not, historically, work their way out of diabetes. It works even better with cats if they will eat it. Dosages for size are on the bottle. I would also recommend Natrum mur 6c twice a day for three weeks.

I love your site and help for all the animals. I just got the remedies for our dog who has anal sac problems. I would like to know how much she should be given each time. I didn’t know if a dose was one pill or not. I have the Myristica 30x in the drops. I have the Hepar sulph 30x in the pellets or dots. I have the Silicea 6c in the pellets or dots. This is for a 100 pound German Shepherd. I always try to do the natural things first.

I have the Youtube video which you likely watched, so Epson Salt soaks are also important. I would use the Myristica first – two or three pills twice a day for two weeks. Hepar if it is painful and sensitive to touch. Low potencies open the abscess, high potencies dry up the pus. If you had an abscess that was ready to burst, a hot compress and 6x potency would burst it and it would clear it up uneventfully. But if you had a case where you wanted to dry it out you would use a 30c or 200c potency.

Last summer we scheduled an appointment with you to guide us on what to do for our new kitty Thai who we had recently adopted. According to the blood work Thai’s kidneys were barely functioning (the veterinarians here said about 10%). Thai barely ate, she was hungry and asked for food but wouldn’t eat. She threw up a lot, had many hair balls. She would stand at the water dish and drink for lengthy periods of time.
You acknowledged the blood results but then suggested a treatment worth trying. We did the treatment you suggested and it went really well. Soon after completing the protocol Thai began to eat again, and now she has a voracious appetite. She stopped drinking excessive amounts of water. Her coat is fluffy, shiny and soft. Hello Dr. Khalsa,
I have wanted to give my cats Silica for a while but have avoided it as I am worried it might push their microchips out or through a vital organ. They were chipped 10 years ago in the cat rescues I picked them up from. I understand that the microchips can travel through the body. Is there a risk?

The Silica would not push the microchips out of the body. Those babies are in there very solidly. You can only get them out yourself if you used a Jason Bourne method ! (That was a joke- please do not try to cut them out.)
Respected Dr. Deva Khalsa,
I have put many bird nests for sparrows in and around my home. I regularly provide food and water for them. Due to enough food and water and secured shelter sparrows here seems to lay eggs throughout the year. Though most baby sparrows fly out of their nests, some could not fly in the proper time. They wander here and there inside my home. It seems that they take longer time to develop their wings. Can we give them homoeopathic medicine to help them grow faster?

Lycopodium is for stunted puppies and the runt of the litter kind of thing but Arsenicum album is a particularly wonderful remedy for birds. A dose of 30c or 30x once a day might be very helpful.
Dear Dr. Khalsa:
Our 11 year old Lab, Opal, appears to have the early stages of Cushing’s disease. Repeated blood and urine tests are leaning towards Cushing’s. We have been treating her (with our holistic vet’s guidance) with herbs, supplements and homeopathy. Right now she gets Arnica Montana for pain and inflammation (also for her arthritis), and Chelidonium – 1 X daily. This is a repeated treatment since past September – 1 week on, 2 weeks off (along with supplements and herbs). We see positive improvement when Opal is on these, otherwise she’s sluggish and pants a lot. I’ve been reading about other remedies to consider, which may also help Opal for the long-term, but wonder what your thoughts and recommendations are on Cushing’s disease and homeopathic treatments.
