The Plant Doctors – January 2014

Hello Mark and Dr. Iftikhar,

I regularly use homeopathic remedies in my garden and I’m getting some
wonderful results.  I have Taro plants (Colocasia esculenta) in my garden and they have very limited growth with very small leaf size. I have tried Silicea 6ch
and Carbo veg 200ch, but no result.  Can you suggest an appropriate remedy and potency for the growth of the taro plant?

Thanks for your wonderful work!

Maulik

My dear Maulik,

You can use following medicines

  1. CALCAREA PHOSPHORICA  200C      First week
  2. STAPHYSAGRIA                       200C     Second Week
  3. IODIUM                                       200C    Third week

Repeat abovementioned trio three months.

Dear Mark and Dr. Waris,

We have followed your column with great interest. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of homeopathy with the agricultural world. Fig Mosaic Virus (FMV) is a world-wide problem for edible fig tree growers and has no known cure. It is evidently latent in virtually all edible fig trees and manifests when conditions are stressful to the tree. The visible signs of this mosaic virus are mottled and misshapen leaves.  Your thoughts on a homeopathic remedy for treatment of this virus would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Devmurti

Dear Devmurti,

For this viral problem you can Spray ANTIMONIUM TARTARICUM 1M once a fortnight & SILICEA 12X daily.

Dear Mark,

I have small gum trees in my yard.  They have a white scale pest on branches which oozes a red substance when removed. Also the bark has become sooty.
I have sprayed with borax and Thrombidium and Coccus 6c. Do not think it has helped. Also tried a 3x potency of red exudate.

Kind Regards,

Jean

Dear Jean,

You can spray your trees with MEZEREUM 200C twice a week.

Dear Plant Doctor,

What do you advise for my grass? It is small and at the beginning of summer became yellow. The weather in our place is dry and the earth is sand, but I can  water the grass twice a week. I would like to have green and bigger grass.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Sincerely,

Györgyi

Dear Györgyi,

You can grow green & bigger grass with NATRIUM MURIATICUM 12D & CHINA OFFICINALIS12D to spray on alternate days.

Hello Mark,

I have two gum trees in my garden that have been used as a hatching ground for a wood boring moth. The holes are oval and about 3cm in length. The trees are exuding copious amounts of red sap and the bark is lifting in large sheets. The bottom of the trunks have been affected descending into the ground area. The bark is dark brown in the affected area on both trees, and one of the trees (species) has a light coloured trunk.

Thank you

Anne Maree

Dear Anne Maree,

You can control this problem to using KALIUM BICHROMICUM  200C & MEZEREUM 200C Twice a week.

Dear Sir,

I had planted four palm trees 7-8 years back outside my house.  Two have died around a year back and now the third one has started showing the same symptoms.  I observed fungus-like fine white stuff on the trunk 3-4 four days back partially covering the trunk.  The fungus-like stuff starts about 1 ft above ground, less than half a ft wide and about 2.5 ft high. I water the tree with ground water on alternate days. Same symptom appeared on other two trees and the trees became hollow slowly and eventually died.  Could you help save this tree please?  Our area is infested with termites also.  However, I never saw any termite hives on the any of the trees mentioned except the fine white fungus-like stuff.  My gardener had put some liquid termite killer in the roots of other two trees but no improvement was seen.

Thank you

 J.S. Ahluwalia

Dear  J.S. Ahluwalia,

THALLIUM METALLICUM  200C & LEDUM PALUSTRE 200C used alternatively once a week for this problem should help.

  • Thanks for another great article. I’m intrigued – does Dr. Waris have a methodology from which his is working? If so, would it be possible to provide references such as a book or pamphlet to give us more insight into his appraoch to Agrohomeopathy? It would be a great boon to all of us working in the field (literally and figuratively) if we could learn from Dr. Waris and apply his methods ourselves. I look forward to your response.

  • Hello Mark – Just happened upon this page and your plant health suggestions. I think I could learn a thing or two from reading your column and making connections between types of diseases and homeopathic remedies. I’m interested to find that you are providing 200C and other high remedies, when Kaviraj said plants only need low potencies. Thanks so much, Debby

  • Once I had visited a small business entity located in Pune, India who are in to the business of developing and selling homeopathic preparations for plant growth. They had shown me the encouraging results they had achieved from these preparations. I had also visited the Homeopathic medicine manufacturing unit engaged by them for this purpose.

From my earlier experience I can safely say that Homeopathy is equally beneficial in agriculture. However, it needs a deeper understanding, and all practitioners will benefit from Dr. Waris’ knowledge.
