Can bladder stone reoccur after removal by laser operation

Posted by:

Richard suffered stones in urine bladder and got it removed through laser operation. He wants to know if this could reoccur and what is the precautions to be taken.Suggest some medication to.
thanks
richard.

Dear Richard,

The stones may recur. Getting them removed once is no guarantee that they will not recur because the reasons which led to their original formation are most likely still there. The precautions will depend upon the kind of stone that was removed from the bladder. The basics are
-drink lots of water (atleast 8 glasses a day)
-limit intake of food high in oxalate content
-if there is any urinary tract infection, get it treated

wishing you health,
Dr. B
