Dr. Chauhan has been a student and close associate of Dr. Rajan Sankaran. In this book Dr. Chauhan explores his own understanding of Dr. Sankaran’s concepts and how he uses them in his practice. The book specially focuses on the concepts of Vital sensation and the 7th level of pure energy that Dr. Sankaran has elaborated recently.
The book is divided in two parts. The first part deals with the theory and the second part has the cases to show the application of the theory in practice.
In a step-by-step manner, the author discusses how he takes the case from one level to another, how he builds the totality and explores the underlying sensation in a case. The book starts beautifully with an effort to understand the human organism in terms of energy but very soon it starts reading like lecture notes from a 7-day exhaustive seminar by Dr. Sankaran. The first part has serious issues – the author has tried to present too much in too few pages. The individuality of the author does not shine through it. The author needs to ask himself – Does a person who has read Dr. Sankaran’s work, needs such sketchy information about levels and kingdoms and miasms? Or, if someone who has not read Dr. Sankaran’s work reads this, will he be able to understand the depth or meaning of the words at all? I believe the answer to both questions would be ‘No’. The section per se is not of poor quality; its only problem, is that it’s too brief and sketchy at times to make it useful.
The second part, which presents the cases, is much better. It was really interesting to read the cases and see how the concepts are applied in practice. One focus of the book is to show how hand-gestures can help reach the vital sensation of a patient. The author has been methodical and meticulous in following the theory into practice. The four cases that have been presented, can help you understand Dr. Sankaran’s concepts and Dr. Chauhan’s practical approach in a much better way. The drawings of hand gestures made by the patient are good and prove useful in understanding the cases.
This is a promising work but it could have been much better. If you are a student of Dr. Sankaran or Dr. Chauhan, you will find this book useful in understanding the latest concepts of the Bombay School.
