There are innumerable books on homeopathic materia medica, but very few on Nosodes and Sarcodes specifically. I remember ‘The Materia Medica of the Nosodes by H.C.Allen’, ‘Materia Medica of Nosodes with Repertory by O.A. Julian’, ‘Nosodes by Kasim Chimthamwala’, ‘The Bowel Nosodes by John Paterson’, and another one by Samuel Swan. There must be a few more but still compared to the plethora of general materia medica books, these are very few.

This book by Dr. Gaurang is a very thorough compilation of symptoms of Nosodes and Sarcodes from the drug proving and different materia medicas. Where this book differs from the rest and stands out too, is inclusion of clinical cases with many of the remedies and inclusion of clinical hints from many modern day masters like Dr. Rajan Sankaran and Dr. Sunirmal Sarkar etc, from whom Dr. Gaurang has learned a lot.

The book covers all the Sarcodes first. Each remedy covers the source, toxicological symptoms, rubrics, clinical keynotes and wherever possible tips and clinical cases from the past and present.

The next section deals with Nosodes in the same fashion but the nosodes have been dealt with more exhaustively, probably because there is much more proving and clinical data available for nosodes. The data from proving and symptoms from master homeopaths like Kent, Allen, Phatak etc is much richer for nosodes.

Nosodes are followed with Bowel nosodes.

The last section of the book is Important Rubrics and Therapeutic Index of Sarcodes and Nosodes, which has been compiled by Dr. Juhi Malhotra. This last section lists all the important rubrics which are covered by various nosodes.

This is a very well researched and compiled book, with lot of original information. The case examples really help you understand the remedies better. I have learnt a lot from this book and highly recommend it to others for studying our sarcodes and nosodes.

Some minor grudges. The book could have been edited much better. A book is for the eternity and the author should be more careful in its production. The spelling and grammar mistakes decrease the production quality of the book. The book also does not have the name of the publisher, ISBN number and price. These are some of the basics of book publishing and should not be ignored.

Apart from these technical issues, the content of the book is worth reading!
