This lovely book is really for your pregnant patients, and the way I see it, to keep them from contacting us with every slightest thing. Miranda Castro writes a lovely ‘Forward’ saying how she wished she had a book like this when she was pregnant. Me? Well I had never heard of homeopathy over 40 years ago when I had my two!!

First there is the usual ‘Introduction to Homeopathy’ which includes ‘Treatment by a Qualified Homeopath’ and a few things to help you prepare for your first visit which you don’t often see. The ‘Remedies and How to Take Them’ is full of sensible advice as is the ‘How to Use This Book’ section that I always like to see.

Next is a Chapter on ‘Pregnancy’ followed by the 3 trimesters, all discussed individually and again very sensibly written. After that there is an A-V of possible conditions including anaemia, breastfeeding, constipation, haemorrhoids, morning sickness and varicose veins to name just a few.

In each of these there is a discussion of the condition, helpful natural suggestions and then a list of the common remedies and their indications. Just think, your patients can phone and say “I have looked in the book and ……. is indicated best”.  You can then prescribe that without spending your valuable time repping it out at goodness knows what time of night!!

Just make sure you also have a copy of the book – print version or as an ebook to check up what they have come up with. All the sections/chapters are interspersed with the most beautiful photos of flowers and plants that we use in homeopathy.

I was so pleased to see a section called ‘The 12 Tissue Salts’ Here can be found descriptions of their main indications.  This section also includes the Tissue Salt protocol that some homeopaths use with their pregnant patients.

After this is a Chapter on ‘How to Select the Right Homeopathic Remedy’ with charts to help with the differentiation. This has been given for each of the 22 conditions written about earlier in detail.

Next there is a very useful page for the non-homeopath of ‘Remedy Abbreviations’ followed by a very extensive ‘Index’.  There is a brief biography of the author and translator and a ‘References and Further Reading’section.

I must say I love this book. It is so lovely to read through as the pages are all in bright colours and I feel the whole book has such a cheery demeanour. For the price it is a bargain, one to keep in your clinic as well as recommend to your patients.
