Homeopathy for Color Blindness

Color blindness is the inability to distinguish between different colors. In rarer forms, all colors are seen as black and white. The exact cause of color blindness is unknown, certain cells known as cones are responsible for the perception of color, which are present in the retina. The condition is diagnosed with color vision tests called pseudoisochromic tests.

Color blindness is the inability to distinguish between different colors. The most common form involves the confusion or red and green, occasionally, blue and yellow shades are also confused, but this form of color blindness is more difficult to discern, since there are no commonly available tests for it. In rarer forms, all colors are seen as black and white.

Color blindness is very common; many people are unaware that they are color blind until they have their eyes tested. Most cases of color blindness are hereditary. Women can transmit red green color blindness as carriers of the gene. Without themselves being affected. They can have red-green color blindness only if their father had it and their mother was a carrier. The rare forms affect both sexes equally. Color blindness can also skip a generation and show up in grandchildren.

Cause of color blindness

The exact cause of color blindness is unknown, Certain cells known as cones are responsible for the perception of color, which are present in the retina. These contain pigments (coloring matter), which determine the color certain cones will respond to. In the inherited form, color blindness may occur due to lack of these pigments.

Diseases of optic nerve and retina may play an important role in the occurrence of color blindness.

Symptoms of color blindness

Symptoms of color blindness may vary from person to person, following symptoms may be there:

  • Difficulty in distinguishing between colors.
  • Patient cannot see shades or tones of the same color.
  • Rapid movement of eyes in some cases.

Diagnosis of color blindness

The condition is diagnosed with color vision tests called pseudoisochromic tests. The most common forms of these tests are the Ishihara test and the American optical/hardy, Rand, and Ritter test. Each test utilizes a series of pictures that consist of a background of colored dots, usually red, green, yellow, or blue, and a central area with a pattern of colored dots that resemble a number. A person with normal vision is able to see the number among the background dots, whereas somebody with a color vision deficiency cannot see the number.
