COVID 19 in a Man of 58

Written by Prashant Patil

Dr. Prashant Patil shares a brief case of covid-19 treated on mentals alone. Anxiety about health and restlessness were among the symptoms leading to the simillimum.

 A 58 year old male patient met with an accident while going to his work on 2nd October 2020. He had a fracture of the inter-trochanter and was sent for further treatment to a more advanced centre on 3rd October 2020. For pre-operative purposes he was given an RTPCR test on 5th October, which came back  positive.  After that the orthopedic surgeon suggested isolation of 14 days, stating he would do an operation when the next test was negative.

The patient was taken back for home isolation, during which time he developed mental symptoms. His mental symptoms were prominent for selection of a remedy.

The patient said he was afraid of what would happen to him, would he recover or die from the disease.  He was sleepless in the middle of night. He would ask people “What time is it now and when will this night go and day come? He always wanted to be in company. Even in the isolation room he used call every half an hour to someone for help. He said “For me these 14 days are like 14 years.” Sometimes during the day, he complained of hearing his heart beat and of excessive perspiration and then he would suddenly get weak.

His orthopedic doctor prescribed allopathic medicine (Hifenac- NSAID). The patient’s vitals were normal as two times a day he used to check saturation and pulse rate and temperature.

SpO2 =95 to 97%

Pulse rate =60 to 87 min
Temperature =afebrile

Based on the above symptoms I prescribed Ars alb 200  4 0 0 X 5 days

After that patient he slept better and all vitals were normal. His need to always have company, his fear of not recovering, hearing his heartbeat and excessive perspiration followed by weakness were all reduced after the remedy.

On the 17th October, 2020 once again he was given the RT PCR test and on 20th October the report came back as negative.
