Introduction: Chronic pain syndrome tends to be very difficult to manage because of its complex natural history, unclear aetiology and poor response to conventional therapy. There is no clear definition but it is characterised by pain which persists despite adequate time for healing. The minimum duration of pain varies between 3 and 6 months. Some argue that any pain that persists longer than the reasonable expected healing time for the involved tissues should be considered as chronic pain. The impact of chronic pain on patients’ lives varies from minor restrictions to complete loss of independence.
Case No. 1: Lachesis cures chronic joint pain
March 11th 2013: A widow aged 68 was visited at her home because of hypertension and left and right knee joint pain, which has persisted for more than 10 years. She was loquacious, cheerful and sometime sad, benevolent with strong body structure. Her son who lives in Australia suffered hypertension as well. Two separate single doses of Lachesis Muta cured most of this hypertension during about 60 days after taking the remedy in Jan. 2013.
The important keynote about her knee pain was that her left knee was affected firstly and her right knee became painful afterward.

Her son took another remedy on March 11th 2013. He feels better now. Three members of her sister’s family were visited by me and my wife on April 26th 2013, as well.
Case No. Two: Lachesis for anxiety and chronic joint pain
A female, married, journalist aged 39 with chief complaint of generalized muscular tics, anger and anxiety since 1985, was visited on Nov.1st 2012. The symptoms had started after she faced separation from her first husband and subsequent divorce. She also suffered from chronic left knee pain while walking down stairs.
She was loquacious, and had used red lipstick at the 1st session. She would feel pain in her back and would become angry before menses. She showed trembling of her tongue while protruding it, and tight cloths would bother her neck.

Lachesis mutus or bush master; the diluted and potentized venom of this very poisonous snake has so far has cured millions of patients the world over.
At the 1st follow-up session on Dec.13th she said: “The first day my right ear became hot for about an hour. I felt that hot air was coming out of my ear. The most important occurrence was my menses. It always had a delay, but the afternoon of the same day it started by discharging bright red blood. My right knee got improved completely till 2-3 weeks, but became painful again, it worsened for 4-5 days, but now it is completely better…”
I called her on May 8th 2013, i.e. after about 6 months to ask about her current condition and her knee pain. She felt well and relaxed and had no knee pain.
Conclusion: Chronic pain syndrome tends to be very difficult to manage because of its complex natural history, unclear aetiology and poor response to therapy in Conventional Medicine. One of the common problems in afflicted patients is chronic abuse with narcotics and non-narcotic medicines. However, dramatic improvement and cure often occurs with homeopathic remedies. In this article two different patients experienced significant healing in a relatively short time.
