Homeopathic Cure of a Patient with Uterine Polyp

uterine polips

Well selected remedies cure a woman of her uterine polyp, thus avoiding surgery.

Introduction: This is a Patient with uterine polyp and complaints of irregular or heavy bleeding or both, i.e. dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB). Since menstruation is central to a woman’s existence, any departure from the normal situation is likely to produce some psychological disturbance (and visa versa).

The previously normal menstrual pattern should be ascertained and an attempt made to estimate the blood loss from the increase in the number of tampons used. In this respect some patients use words like ‘flooding’ and ‘coming up like a well’, giving an impression of hemorrhage not supported by appearances or by the hemoglobin level. There should be some careful probing to ascertain the degree of stress under which the patient may be living.

Analysis of the patient: Mrs. A.P. a 30 yr old married woman, was referred to me because of suffering from DUB due to uterine polyp. She is from Ahvaz, a metropolitan area in the southern province of Khuzestan, being more than 1000 kms from Tehran.

Her case was taken through phone. She only had a son and along with her husband had decided to have another child. Her physician had told her she’d better have her polyp removed, by surgery or hormone therapy.

Surgeons had recommended operating on her polyp, but she refused due to fear of invasive methods of treatment.

The main rubrics of her totality were as follows:

-MIND – SADNESS

MIND – FEAR – death, of

MIND – FEAR – robbers, of

MIND – MEMORY – weakness of memory

MIND – CONFIDENCE – want of self-confidence

MIND – ANXIETY – health; about – own health; her/his

MIND – ANXIETY – alone; when

MIND – CONSCIENTIOUS about trifles

MIND – FEAR – cancer; of

GENERALS – WEARINESS

GENERALS – ANEMIA

GENERALS – FOOD and DRINKS – cold drink, cold water – desire

GENERALS – OBESITY

GENERALS – WOUNDS – heal; tendency to – slowly

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX – POLYPUS – Uterus

GENERALS – MORNING

SKIN – DISCOLORATION – yellow

PERSPIRATION – EXERTION – during slight

Her rubrics were repertorized by Radar 8.1; the 3 first remedies turned out to be as follows;

  1. Ars 2. Phosphorus 3.Sulph.

The first remedy was prescribed and sent to her via mail. She was told to take 15 drops of Arsenicum 30c as P1 and 30 drops of the same remedy for the 2nd time after 4 weeks. The next remedy was prescribed and taken by the patient two months after p1; a single dose; one teaspoonful or 40 drops of PHOS.30c.

– She was told to do the follow up sonography after 3 months of taking the first remedy.

– Interestingly the sonogram showed no sign of uterine polyp (see image below)

The chief complaint rubric, FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX – POLYPUS – Uterus remedies are:

Ars. Aur. BELL. Bufo. CALC. CALC-P. caust. Con. erod. hydr. led. Lyc. merc. mez. morg-p. nit-ac. petr. Ph-ac. PHOS. Plat. puls. rhus-t. Sang. sec. Sep. Sil. Staph. syc. TEUCR. THUJ.

Report of course of treatment: After prescribing the remedy, she experienced worsening of uterine bleeding at the beginning but a decrease of its flow afterwards. Some of her mental symptoms like getting anxious when alone improved. Then she felt happy and was no longer worried about her previous uterine bleeding.

MIND – CONFIDENCE – want of self-confidence; the patient’s self-confidence improved, as well.

Discussion: I prescribed 15 drops of the remedy, Ars 30c and recommended a special homeopathic diet. First she experienced an aggravation in her bleeding but then an inner calmness. I waited until her bleeding decreased and improved.

She was told to take 15 drops of Arsenicum30c as P1 and 30 drops of the same remedy for the 2nd time after 4 weeks.

The next remedy was prescribed and taken by the patient two months after p1; a single dose; one teaspoonful or 40 drops of Phos.30c.

The 1st remedy was the similimum and cured the chief complaint and the 2nd one as complementary to Arsenicum , cured some of the patient’s remaining mental symptoms.

Conclusion: The case report reveals multi-potential characteristics and abilities of the prescribed homeopathic remedies , Arsenicum 30c and Phosphorus 30c. without any side effects. Homeopathic remedies first improved her mental condition and then affected her physical layer, curing the uterine polyp, without relapse after about 18 months.

    • Dr.Sadeghi, i appreciate you have cured polyp in this case.but i have few questions about the inferences which can be drawn.first of all we never give remedy which comes first in the repertorisation.we have to go to materia medica to finally decide the simillimum.second why u did not wait with arsenic till the usg was done.why phos was given when u felt that pt is improving with arsenic.finally polyp is removed by arsenic or phos?dr sadeghi,i know homoeopathy is awonderful science. i am practicing since 20 yrs. results are important but analysing how we got the results are more important for our future practice and also putting examples for newcomer-how to approach a case.?when we give second remedy, there has to be some indications pointing towards it.kindly let me know .kindly dont take it as criticism, we all have to learn and keep on learning.
