The Tetractys of a Thuja Case

Thuja occidentalis
Written by Mirjana Zivanov

Dr. Mirjana Zivanov shares a thuja case worked with her

tetractys method.

A patient may share with a homeopath more or less of his sensations, feelings and thoughts as symptoms, but actually these are all different expressions of just a few key themes, interconnected into a personal pattern – that we illustrate as Tetractys of a patient.

After the classical homeopathic case taking, we use the Matrix method to help the patient to open up at the very beginning of the homeopathic treatment, and to include the patient in the process of case analysis, thus making a homeopath even more impartial.

At the very beginning of a classical homeopathic case analysis the homeopath needs to choose a few themes that he/she feels are the most characteristic of the patient. This heavily depends on the skill and art of a homeopath. Wouldn’t it be better if a patient could tell us himself what are his own most intense contents of the unconscious? In the MATRIX method the Deep PEAT technique is used after the case taking, because this way the patient gives us the contents – themes, that he/she feels most intensely about, also their sequence – the chain of contents.

Brief overview of the case taking

The patient came to homeopathic treatment because of stage fright. She works as a clerk in a state owned company. She has finished many different psychological courses before she came to us, but while most of her colleagues who finished these courses with her, now work with patients, she still doesn’t feel ready or adequate.

She also fears she is going to die because her mother died when she was her age. She was young when her mother died and she believes that many of her issues originate from this. That is one of the reasons she went to all those psychological courses.

She is often nervous and feels that she isn’t patient enough with her daughter ( snaps at her easily). She is very insecure about being a good mother, but she is trying very hard, and this may be the main reason for attending psychological courses. She had problems in marriage. Her husband left her a few times, but came back later. The patient feels anxious when someone is unpleasant to her.

She used to have frequent colds and viral infections. She had colon polyps (30-40), and they were surgically removed. (a Sycotic disorder)

The Matrix of this case

The patient has chosen the following issue for the starting point in Deep PEAT: “Insecurity”

  1. Insecurity (Fear point) Unease, increased heart rate (Passion/Panic point)
  2. Increased heart rate
  3. Thought that I should run away
  4. I want to hide
  5. Shame – I feel like my face is blushing, my cheeks are burning. I feel ashamed.
  1. Exposed – I am not afraid.  Like I am in front of crowd, exposed

–        Stage fright, blushed cheeks

–        The image of the open sea.

–        Unpleasant sensation in stomach (Melancholy / Sadness

7.  Unpleasant sensation in stomach  –  the pressing sensation has decreased, and now my stomach is better.

  1. A lump in my throat –   Llike I have a lump in my throat (Fear point)
  2. Hands mildly trembling
  3. Pleasant

What is the opposite of pleasant for you?

It is unpleasant feeling in my body, like when I am awaiting       something.

(Fear point)

The Primes of the patient are: PLEASANT – UNPLEASANT

Fear point:                                   –        insecurity

–        lump in the throat

–        trembling

–        awaiting

–        unpleasant

Passion/Panic point:                                        –        unease

–        increased heart rate

–        to run away

–        to hide

–        numb

–        blushing

–        burning

–        ashamed

–        exposed

–        stage fright

Peace & Joy point:             –        sleepy

–        pleasant

–        fine

–        happy

–        relaxed

Melancholy / Sadness point:        –        pressing sensation

–        unpleasant

The positions of these four points of Tetractys of this case, indicate that this patients has a predominantly sycotic miasm:

The Tetractys of a Thuja Case jan 2016

She was prescribed:

Thuja occidentalis (Thuja) C200, and later during the treatment Thuja 1M

After about a month she felt that her mental state was better, and the relation with her daughter has improved. The communication with her husband has also improved.  Now she is able to speak up freely when something is bothering her at work, without feeling unpleasant – (one polarity of her Primes, found in Matrix method – she didn’t feel unpleasant anymore, because after the Simillimum all the polarities of her Tetractys, including Primes were integrated, thus not affecting her as they used to).

The stage fright is also much better. She was one of the speakers at a work related seminar, and she went on stage much easier. After a few months she was moved to a higher position at work, for getting excellent results. She doesn’t feel a need to go out with friends every day anymore. She feels less need for flirting, because her relation with husband is much better, now. She feels much better about herself, more self-confident, so she needs less approval from the others. She feels just fine at home reading a book.

  • ‘INSECURITY” is the central feeling of Ars but interestingly Thujs is antisycotic complementary of Ars ; and also indicated for stage fright, timidity about appearing in public, and polypus.
So Similimum- Thujs selected through this new method is clinically applied for above case.
