COMMON NAME:

      SMELLING SALTS.

Symptoms

      Long-lasting coryza (A.).

NOSE BLEED: WHEN WASHING THE FACE AND HANDS IN THE MORNING, FROM LEFT NOSTRIL; AFTER EATING (A.).

Ozaena: blowing bloody mucus from the nose frequently (A.).

Blood rushes to the tip of nose, when stooping (A.).

Great sensitiveness to the cold (Hepar, Psorinum, Silicea).

Children dislike washing (Ant-C., Sulphur). (A.).

STOPPING OF THE NOSE, MOSTLY AT NIGHT. MUST BREATHE THROUGH THE MOUTH (Lycopodium, Nux vomica, Stict.). (A.).

SNUFFLES OF INFANTS (hep., Nux_V., Sambucus, Stict.). (A.). Profuse watery coryza (All-C., Natrum muriaticum,). (B.).

Tearing in the joints, relieved by the heat of the bed.

Lies in profound stupor; the breathing is stertorous, and the vitality is greatly weakened (Bl.).

Tendency to gangrenous ulceration (Arsenicum, Baptisia, Carb-Ac., Lachesis, Acid nitricum, Phosphorus) (Bt.).

Dry cough, as from dust in the throat (Arsenicum, Drosera, Lycopodium, Pulsatilla, Sulphur).

Cough only at night, or only in day time.

Dyspnoea from retrocession of an eruption (Ant-T., Arsenicum, Bryonia, Phosphorus, Sulphur) (Bt.).

Incessant cough, excited by a sensation as of feathers down in the larynx, from 3to 4 A.M. (Bt.).

Examination of a scarlet colour (Belladonna, Rhus-t., Sulphur)

Erysipelas of old, debilitated person. Cerebral symptoms, simulating a drunken stupor, are present (N.).

Itching eruptions; desquamation of the skin.

Panaritium; fingers inflamed; deep-seated periosteal pain (Fluor-Ac., Sil) (N.).

Talking and hearing others talk affect him greatly.

Mistakes in writing and speaking (Lycopodium, Natrum muriaticum, Phosphorus) (G.).

Ill humour during wet, stormy weather (A.).

Disposed to weep particularly in the evening (Pulsatilla, Sepia,) (G.).

Pain at pit of stomach, with heart-burn, nausea., water brash, and chilliness (Br.).

There is a feeling as of a lump in the throat (Ignatia, Lachesis, Nux-M.,) (F.).

Swollen veins and bluish colour of the extremities (Carbo vegetabilis, Lachesis,) (R.).

GREAT OPPRESSION OF BREATHING, ESPECIALLY IN GOING UP EVEN A FEW STEPS (Arsenicum,. Calcarea, Phosphorus). (C).

Hoarseness (Argentum nitricum, Carbo vegetabilis, Phosphorus, Rhus toxicodendron,) (C.).

Bleeding haemorrhoids; varices protrude during stool, which are very painful a long time after hindering walking (Ignatia, Acid nitricum, Thuja) (G.).

Violent palpitation of the heart, followed by syncope (Lachesis, Nux-M., Veratrum) (G.).

Dilatation of the heart (Digitalis, Lachesis, Phosphorus,) (F.).

Chronic bronchitis with atony of the bronchial tubes (F.).

Much disturbed by night mare nearly every night (G.).

Emphysema (Ant-A., Ant-T., Arsenicum, Bromium, Carbo vegetabilis, Hepar, Lachesis, Lobelia, Phosphorus, Sulphur). (Br.)

Asthenic pneumonia (Carbo vegetabilis, Lycopodium, Phosphorus,) (Br.).

The pulse is very weak (F).

Much oppression in breathing; worse after any effort, and entering a warm room, or ascending even a few steps (Br.).

AGGRAVATION:

      From washing; in the evening; during cold, wet weather; from wet wet poultices; and during menses.

AMELIORATION:

      From lying on the abdomen; from lying on painful side; and in dry weather.

RELATIONSHIP:

      It ANTIDOTES poisoning with Rhus Tox. and stings of insects.

Is also useful in poisoning by charcoal fumes (Arnica, Bovista)

Affects the right side most.

Inimical to Lachesis.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
