Sensorium

      Swimming, a sort of vertigo, with dimness of sight; gulping up a bitter, sour fluid,.

Inner Head

      Headache, pressure behind the eyes, dimness of sight; dependent upon uterine derangement.

Severe pains by spells, in the temples, as if they would be crushed together.

Outer Head

      Rheumatic headaches, especially with females,.

Eyes

      Pressure behind the eyes; profuse flow of tears.

Face

      “Moth spots” on forehead, with leucorrhoea.

Teeth

      Teeth all feel sore, elongated.

Tongue etc.

      Tongue coated white.

Mouth

      Sensation of dryness in the mouth; heat, Aphthae.

Throat

      Distress in the fauces, which causes frequent inclination to swallow.

Desires Aversions

      Great thirst.

Canine hunger, with white coated tongue.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Empty eructations.

Frequent gulping up of sour, bitter fluid, with vertigo.

Spasmodic vomiting, cardialgia, excessive nausea spasms of the stomach attending uterine irritation.

Stomach

      Heat in the stomach; fulness.

Distress in stomach and bowels, with drawing in the right hypochondrium : Dyspepsia, with spasmodic symptoms.

Abdomen

      Distention of the abdomen, with tenderness.

Rumbling in the bowels.

Spasmodic and flatulent colic.

Spasmodic action of the muscular tissues of the intestines, from irritation of the motor nerves, or from rheumatism.

Stool etc.

      Constipation; stool every other day.

Watery stools, great quantity, but no pain; 1 A.M.

Soft stool, very white.

Urine

      Emission of copious, pale or straw-coloured urine.

Male Sexual Organs

      Every few minutes sharp, stinging pains in the glans penis.

Female Sexual Organs

      Sensation, as if uterus was congested, with fulness and tension in hypogastric region.

Menses too soon.

Amenorrhoea; spasms, cramps, or great atony.

Painful menstruation, the flow being normal in quantity.

Spasmodic dysmenorrhoea; spasmodic, intermittent pains in bladder, stomach, broad ligaments (groins), even chest and limbs; congestion and irritability of uterus; scanty flow.

Menstrual colic; uterus retroverted.

Irritable vagina, spasmodic, intense pains.

Aphthous vaginitis and spasmodic pains in the uterus.

Leucorrhoea: profuse, mucous; “moth spots” on the forehead: often in little girls.

Pregnancy

      Threatening abortion, spasmodic bearing down pains : vascular excitement: tremulous weakness; pains severe in back and loins, but uterine contractions feeble; slight flow.

Habitual abortion from uterine debility.

Tormenting, useless pains in the beginning of labor.

Labor pains short, irregular, spasmodic; patient very weak; no progress being made.

Spasmodic rigidity of the os, delaying labor; pains like needles in the cervix.

Pains become weak, flagging from long protracted labor, causing exhaustion; thirsty, feverish.

Passive hemorrhage after abortion or confinement.

Protracted lochia, oozes passively from the relaxed uterine vessels, great atony.

Suppressed lochia, After-pains, especially after exhausting, lengthy labor; spasmodic, across the lower abdomen; extend into groins.

Larynx

      Loss of voice; reflex from uterine disturbances.

Lungs

      Spasmodic, intermittent pains in chest, with anemia.

Neck Back

      Rheumatic stiffness of the nape.

Severe drawing pain in the sterno-cleido-mastoid; drawing the head to the left.

Dull pain in the lumbar region.

Upper Limbs

      Severe drawing in wrists and fingers.

Rheumatism of wrists and finger-joints, with swelling, cutting in joints when closing hands; pains shift to the nape of neck with spasmodic rigidity; panting oppression of the chest; high fever; delirium; nervous excitement.

Lower Limbs

      Drawing pains in knees, ankles, feet and toes.

All joints crack when walking or turning.

Pain in feet and toes, worse at night.

Pains recur every day.

Limbs in General

      Rheumatism, especially of the smaller joints.

Constant flying pains in the arms and legs; remain only a few minutes in any one place.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
