      Acanthia graveolens. WAHLE IN ROME. Cimicidae.

Mind

      Anxiousness.

Very much vexed, would like to tear everything into pieces.

Disgust at his own sweat.

Sensorium

      Dulness of the head.

Inner Head

      Drawing headache, particularly under right frontal bone.

Headache, almost depriving him of power of thinking.

Violent headache, caused by drinking.

Nose

      Annoying dryness of nostrils.

Sneezing for an hour, at noon.

Fluent coryza, with pressure in frontal sinuses.

Tongue etc.

      Tongue feels as if scalded; coated whitish.

Throat

      Pressure and choking in the gullet, during the fever : heat, spreading through the chest, impeding breathing; no thirst, but when drinking to overcome the choking, the water goes down only at intervals, as if the throat was contracted, or feels as if she had swallowed too large a morsel.

Palate and upper gums feels as if scalded.

Desires Aversions

      Great hunger after the heat.

Thirst, but afraid to move to get a drink.

Desire to drink, without thirst.

Eating and Drinking

      After drinking :.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Qualmishness, with the fever.

Stool etc.

      Constipation, feces dry and hard, like dog stool.

Hemorrhoidal pains with the stool.

Urine

      Urine deposits a red coating on inside of vessel.

During the fever, urine very hot.

Female Sexual Organs

      Hot sensation inside the labia.

Cough

      Cough, with belching, gagging or vomiting.

Violent cough, with purulent sputum, and with chill and fever in daily attacks.

Heart Pulse

      Pulse feeble, intermitting.

Lower Limbs

      Heaviness in lower limbs.

Hamstring feel too short, knees are flexed; attempting to stretch them, causes pain in the thighs.

Restlessness of lower limbs, like overfatigue from a long walk.

Knees feel cold, as from a cold wind.

Position etc.

      Every moment, especially extending a limb, gives tensive pain in the extensor tendons.

Suffers thirst rather than move, see.

Has to sit down; loins or limbs are weary.

Nerves

      Weariness, with inclination to stretch all day.

Sleep

      Irresistible sleepiness.

Time

      Noon : All day :.

Chill Fever Sweat

      Before the chill, thirst and heaviness in the legs.

Chill, commencing with clenching of hand and violent raging.

Chill, attended with pain in all the joints; sensation, as if the tendons were too short, knee-joints are usually contracted, so that the legs cannot be stretched; chest feels oppressed; must take a long breath, frequently; irresistible sleepiness; hands and feet as if dead.

Chill terminates with a tired feeling in the legs, obliging one to change position constantly.

After the chill, thirst; drinking, however, causes violent headache; tickling in larynx, causing dry, continuous cough,

which lasts through the heat; oppression of breathing, heaviness in middle of chest, and anxiety; abstaining from drinking ameliorates all this.

Heat with gagging; the oesophagus feels constricted.

Sweat mostly on head and chest, accompanied by hunger.

Sweat relieves all the other symptoms; during feverish affections.

Musty-smelling sweat, the odor is to him very offensive.

Sides

      Right side seems most affected.

Sensations

      Sensation as if he would creep into his own body, he crouches together as much as he can, with pain in thighs.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
