      Culver’s root. HALE. Scrophulariceae.

Mind

      Desponding; drowsy; with hepatic derangement.

Inner Head

      Constant dull frontal headache; worse in temples, with aching in umbilicus.

Eyes

      Smarting and aching in the eyes.

Tongue etc.

      Tongue yellow or black down the centre.

Eating and Drinking

      Eating of meat or vegetables aggravates distress in liver, and purging :; drinking water aggravates burning and aching in stomach and liver :.

Nausea and Vomiting

      Nausea, with deathly faintness on rising.

Vomiting of bile, yellow tongue, shooting pains about the liver, black stools.

Stomach

      Weak sensation at the pit of stomach.

Great distress in the stomach and small intestines, with immediate desire for stool.

Burning, aching; in stomach and liver, worse from drinking water.

Hypochondria

      Dull aching in liver, worse near gall-bladder.

Burning distress in back part of liver and in spine.

Jaundice, with clay-colored stools.

Abdomen

      Rumbling and distress in whole bowels, especially in hypogastrium, with black stools.

Constant dull aching in the umbilical region.

Sharp, distressing pains between navel and epigastrium.

Stool etc.

      Stools : black, tarry, bilious, undigested, followed by great distress in the liver; mushy, with weak feeling in the bowels; greenish, muddy, spouting out like water; worse morning as soon as he moves; form meat or vegetables.

After stool, griping, but no straining.

Urine

      Red, with dull aching in the limber region.

Female and Sexual Organs

      Menses suppressed or retarded; liver affected.

Heart Pulse

      Soreness in the cardiac region.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
