General [General]       Is a disease to which sheep and lambs are very subject, especially during the spring and summer months, when the animal are turned into fresh pasture. Sudden changes in the atmosphere will at times produce it. If the disease is allowed to continue too long, the evacuations become streaked with blood, and there is violent straining; the hinder limbs become paralyzed; if the disease arrives at this stage, it very often terminates fatally.

REMEDIES: Arsenicum, Chamomilla, Mercurius corrosivus, Ipecacuanha and Pulsatilla. Chamomilla [Cham]       Chamomilla may be given for diarrhoea from cold; the evacuations are of a green colour, distension of the abdomen, colicky pains.

Dose. Two drops every two or three hours. Arsenicum [Ars]       Arsenicum is indicated when the evacuations are dark putrid, mixed with blood; rapid loss of strength.

Dose. Four drops every one, two or three hours. Mercurius [Merc]       Mercurius is useful when there is violent straining, watery evacuations mixed with blood, or blood and mucus.

Dose. The same as previously mentioned. Ipecacuanha [Ip]       Ipecacuanha may be given if the evacuations are whitish and look like yeast, and smell very bad; straining.
