General [General]       Generally commences suddenly and without any precursory symptoms. It chiefly attacks fat pigs, especially those that are exposed to the sun. At first the animal appears to be dull and sleepy, then restless and eventually furious, the eyes red and sparkling; it champs and foams at the mouth, which is hot. The animal tears up the ground with the fore feet, runs wild in every direction, leaps up from the ground, and dashes its head against the walls as if blind. Aconite and Belladonna are the principal remedies; give three or four doses of Aconite first, then give Aconite and Belladonna alternately; sometimes Hyoscyamus is useful when Belladonna fails to afford relief.

Dose. Three drops every one, two or three hours according to circumstances.
