Calendula [Calen]

Experience has taught me that Calendula is the best remedy for severe wounds, especially if they are what i called clean cut; if the wound is a gaping one, and the part will admit of it, and it can be done directly, it is best to sew it up either with white thread or silk, tying each stitch by itself, and cutting the thread off; by so doing if one stitch breaks out the other may not; if the wound is on the legs a bandage can be put loosely round and kept wet with a lotion composed of one part of Tincture of Calendula, to twenty parts of water; if a bandage cannot be applied, the wound and adjacent parts must be frequently wetted with the lotion; if the wound is a severe one the medicine must be used internally.

Dose. Six drops night and morning for several days.
