Symptoms

      Phlegmatic temperament and laxness of the muscles (Calcarea).

INFLAMMATION OF THE PETROUS (PORTION OF THE TEMPORAL) BONE; VERY TENDER TO THE TOUCH (Hepar, Lachesis) (G.).

CARIES OF THE MASTOID (Aurum, Fluor-Ac., Hepar, Silicea) (N.).

Swelling and pain behind the ears (Mercurius, Silicea) (Br.).

Fetid odour from the mouth (Arsenicum, Aurum, Bryonia, Carbo vegetabilis, Nux vomica, Pulsatilla) (Br.).

It should be studied in malarial fever when the liver and the spleen are enlarged, especially if the spleen is sensitive, swollen, indurated and large amount of quinine has been employed (Bl.).

INTERMITTENT FEVER CHILL PREDOMINANT; THIRST IN THE CHILL, OR DURING THE CHILL AND HEAT, MUCH PAIN IN THE BACK AND LIMBS (Ma. & Ht.).

CHILL BEGINS BETWEEN THE SHOULDER-BLADES (N.).

Chill predominates in the back, and there is an inordinate desire for cold water (Bt.).

During chill must have something hot to the back (Br.).

AGGRAVATION:

      In the evening; after eating; after drinking; when beginning to move; in the open air; and from uncovering.

AMELIORATION:

      After having moved about for some time; and from heat.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
