COMMON NAME:

      YELLOW IODIDE OF MERCURY.

Symptoms

      The Iodide of Mercury acts especially upon the glands and mucous membranes of the throat, after the manner of other Mercuries, though partaking somewhat the action of the Iodine (C.).

Right side of the throat and neck most affected (Lycopodium) (A.).

Cervical and parotid glands are enormously swollen (Phytolacca) (A.).

Swelling of the parotids and tonsils during scarlatina (C).

Deep bone-pains, especially at night (Mezer., Acid nitricum, Phytolacca) (Bt.).

SYPHILITIC IRITIS (Aurum, Fluor-Ac., Merc-C., Acid nitricum, Silicea).

Cornea looks scratched or chipped (B.).

Pyorrhoea (Calcarea fluorica., Hepar, Kali-P., Mercurius, Acid nitricum, Silicea, Sulphur (B.).

Superficial ulceration of the cornea and other especially scrofulous affections of the eyes (N.).

Faint or dizzy on rising (Pulsatilla) (B.).

BASE OF THE TONGUE COVERED WITH A THICK, DIRTY YELLOW COAT (Chelidonium, Kali bichromicum, Nat- P.) (N.).

Palpitation, with dyspnoea, aggravated, by lying on the back (Arsenicum, Lycopodium) (A.).

Follicular tonsilitis (Kali carb.) (R.).

Suppuration of the middle ear (Calcarea sulph., Hepar, Mercurius, Pulsatilla, Silicea, Tell.) (R.).

Dull frontal headache, with pain in the root of the nose (Kali bichromicum, Nat-Arsenicum, Stict.) (C.).

Troublesome itching over the whole body; worse at night, especially while in bed (C.).

Sensation of a lump in the throat (Ignatia, Lachesis, Phytolacca) (Br.).

Sometimes useful in chronic nasal catarrh, the posterior nares being most affected (Hydrastis) (C.).

AGGRAVATION :

      At night; from warm drinks; from swallowing; in a warm room; during rest; and from lying on the back.

AMELIORATION:

      In the open air; when exercising actively; from cold drinks; and during the day.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
