COMMENT.

Mind

Delusion that one hears strange voices, at night; irritable, sends nurse out of room; obstinate, on appearance of menses; quiet, only while being carried, reverse of Bryonia; oversensitive, after coffee. (L): Desire to be carried, slowly: Pulsatilla, rapidly: Arsenicum; aggravation when, and averse to being, spoken to; weeps, also during sleep, quiet only while being carried. Fear of wind, like Thuja. The characteristic mental symptoms dominate all the diseases to which this drug is homoeopathic, whether pathological states appear in the pathogenesis or not. Ought not to be given to those who bear pain with patience and resignation. Chamomilla has a very bad temper, but Nux is malicious; Chamomilla corresponds to the effects of anger, and is almost typical of that state. It corresponds to Nux in temper before and during menorrhagia, but Nux is conscious of it, while Chamomilla is not. Cannot bear to be looked at, like Ant-c., but Ant-c. has a white tongue. Enters into a quarrel or dispute regardless of the feelings of others. Tosses in bed, not quiet an instant. Aversion to talk and snappish; that answers for both adult and child.

Genitalia

Uterus inflamed, after anger; metrorrhagia, aggravation lying on back; cramping pain in uterus, after anger. (L): Metrorrhagia, after anger; labor – like pain, during menses. Very valuable in uterine haemorrhage, where the flow is irregular, dark and clotted, or there may be sometimes constant oozing of dark, foul blood with occasional bright gushes, reminding one of Belladonna, but not in the mental symptoms.

Larynx

Has cured croup, after failure of Aconite and Spongia

Respiratory

Impeded breathing, after coffee. (L): Asthmatic breathing, after danger, also difficult breathing after anger.

Cough

General

Amelioration, coffee; aggravation touching anything; pains drive one out of bed and compel one to walk about; stitches, jump form place to place, leaving sense of weakness and numbness; amelioration after sweat. The Chamomilla babies are aggravation 9 a.m., the Bryonia babies at 9 p.m. Oversensitive from abuse of narcotics and coffee; or, in cases spoiled by opium or morphine, at least as an intercurrent before giving other remedies, gives most brilliant results; it corresponds to the secondary stage of Opi., not at all to the primary, and acts better in low dilutions. Convulsions of children from punishment, like Ignatia, but lacks the sighing of Ignatia Pains amelioration heat, except teeth and jaws. After long continued use of narcotics. Resembles Mag-c., but stools differ. Chamomilla differs from Belladonna to which it is complementary in diseases of children, by acting more on the nerves of the abdomen, while Belladonna acts more on the cranial nerves. It is a peculiarity of Chamomilla pains generally, that they are aggravation at nigh, when they frequently drive one to the border of distraction, not infrequently with unquenchable thirst and redness of cheeks, also with hot sweat on head even in the hair, generally seem intolerable and not to be endured. The paralysis sense caused by Chamomilla in any part is always accompanied by drawing, tearing pain, and the drawing tearing pain rarely occurs without the paralytic or numb sensation in the part.
