CASES

Have had three other severe cases of meningitis where Hell. given, especially on the urinary symptoms, brought complete recovery. Another unconscious with hemiplegia, where Bell. 2M, was the curative remedy. And one more of a boy of twelve whose pain was in the upper occiput. Here, after failure of several remedies, Lyc., 6M, two doses, cured”.

Miss C., aged 27, very active and overworking last three years. Unable to work now for eight months. Attacks of pain in heart going to left shoulder and arm, severe, repeating day and night twelve to fourteen times in twenty-four hours. Diagnosis angina pectoris, but that is not important. Attacks exhaust her. Breathes better with head high. Sharp pain in heart on exertion or deep breath. Lying ameliorates pain and respiration. Very obese. Must move about. Uncovers feet especially on first going to bed. Crowds aggravate. Does not care for salt. No weeper. Fear of dark always. Slight exertion aggravates. Sleepless most of life. Tosses about. Quite weak. Gasps for breath. Ascending stairs aggravates. Has taken no sulfas.

Puls. and Kalmia did nothing. Spig. 2c, one dose, repeated once in eight days put an end to it and she went back to work feeling better and stronger all round. Had her on a diet of raw fruit and vegetables. Last report condition excellent. Referred to a young homoeopath in Boston, the location of her residence. The following from Margaret Tyler on hearts helped:.

Feels if she moves her heart will cease,

A pretty strong plea for Digitalis.

Must keep moving or heart will stop,

Here Gelsemium is easily top.

While with Lobelia youll hear he say–.

That its going to stop whichever way.

With a Cactus heart, iron band constriction.

Chest, uterus, rectum share the fiction.

Lachesis has constriction on waking.

Arsenicum alb. constriction, oppression on walking.

Youll play Tiger Lily to comfort her woe.

Whose heart is alternately grasped and let go.

Iod. has a squeeze and no more;.

most violent hearts for Spigelia roar.

The following meningitis cases are lifted from the Transactions of the International Hahnemannian Association, Vol. I, 1881-3, 66 years ago. That excellent prescriber, R.R. Gregg of Buffalo, presented them:.

“These cases are presented especially as my experience hitherto brought no cures. They were treated with low potencies in repetition. Every case of my own, or under my observation, so treated had died, as is the usual outcome under Regular School medication.

“Boy 32, ill one week and given up by a Regular, in coma, bilateral internal strabismus, eyes wide open and insensitive. After getting all available facts Calc., 6M, one dose. Some improvement in twenty-four hours, more in forty-eight. Now quite a change in symptoms calling for Nux. v. which was given 2M, one dose. Next day clearly better in every respect. No more medicine given. Discharged on the eighth day of attendance and continued well several years when I lost sight of the family.

“Boy, 6, ill ten days. Quite unconscious several days. Violent convulsions. Constipation from first day of illness. No effect from Nux., Hyos., Cupr., high. Bell. 2M. one dose, with marked improvement for three days when a second dose completed the cure. No complications. Restored to health.

“Boy 4, symptoms obscure for ten days then rapid development into one of the most violent case of meningitis I have ever seen. Terrific screams day and night, plunging against bed-stead until head and face were battered almost beyond recognition and efforts at restraint greatly aggravated all other symptoms. Bell., Hyos., and Nux v., high, in single dose, failed entirely. Inquiry revealed very scanty urination, staining bedding deeply. Which led to one dose of Hell., 1M, in the morning. In a few hours there was free passage of urine, but the violence of the headlong plunging and screams continued until evening when again free passage of urine and some perspiration, the first in several days, and then two or three hours sleep.

There was still considerable plunging and violence which did not abate for several days but with general improvement. The action of one dose of Hell. was not interfered with except for one dose of Puls., 1M, and of Sul., 6M, which may or may not have helped. But from an active talkative boy, he never uttered a word for six weeks after he was able to leave his bed. Finally words came back single as to a baby. Treatment was continued in single dose of indicated remedy in high potency until finally he made a complete recovery and since has graduated with highest honors.
