Reading the news recently, I saw an article about the current state of mental health care. This is what I learned: There is a great deal of forced medication of patients in mental hospitals. The number of American children being treated with psychiatric drugs tripled from 1987 to 1996. In the U.S., the top-selling drugs are now antipsychotics. In 2009, seventeen million children worldwide were prescribed antidepressants, including children less than one year old! I read about a 7 yr old boy who was diagnosed with ADHD, based on a five minute pencil twirl test. He was put on Ritalin for seven years and died of heart damage from it. Other children have committed suicide from using antidepressants. A new study1 from Australia revealed that these drugs don’t even work. Lastly, I read that roughly one million people worldwide each year, still receive Electroconvulsive Therapy.
Homeopathy, we know, is a kinder, gentler, more effective way. A recent book called Homeopathy and Mental Health Care backs up that point with lots of affirmative research. There are millions of suffering people who need this knowledge. In lieu of all this, we decided to devote this issue to homeopathy and mental health.
