The Swiss government’s report on homeopathic medicine in 20111,2 was the most comprehensive study on homeopathy ever conducted by a government, lasting six years. It concluded that homeopathy was effective, safe and economical and sometimes worked even better than conventional medicine. It recommended that homeopathy be incorporated into the Swiss national healthcare system.
Fast forward to France 2019, where you have to read between the lines to follow the intrigue. Agnès Buzyn was promoted from President of the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) (health regulatory agency), to Health Minister in 2017. She subsequently asked her former subordinates at the HAS for their opinion of homeopathic medicine. After a cursory review, they recommend that homeopathy be withdrawn from France’s national health care system. Buzyn then announces that she’s just following the advice of HAS, and, as of January 1st, 2021, homeopathy will no longer be reimbursed. Got it?
The individuals at the HAS, none of whom had studied homeopathy, nor read any of the thousands of cured cases, nor reviewed the roughly 3000 clinical studies and research papers that exist on homeopathy3, nor interviewed any homeopathic doctors, nor even taken a remedy, decided, after nine months, that homeopathy was just placebo. This, in spite of the fact 72% of the French people believe homeopathy has benefits, and, as homeopath Dana Ullman has pointed out, “ a survey found that 95% of French pediatricians, dermatologists, and general practitioners use homeopathic medicines. Further, 43% of ALL health and medical professionals in France prescribe homeopathic medicines for their patients.”4
Shortly after the HAS announcement, shares in the French homeopathic pharmacy Boiron, the largest manufacturer of homeopathic medicines in the world, were suspended in trading. Boiron now stands to lose 60% of its yearly income. It is not incidental that this story was reported in the Bloomberg News, a major world reporter of financial news.5 So, the plot succeeds.
We’ve seen similar assaults on homeopathy by government agencies in Italy, Spain, Australia, the U.S. etc. The attacks are choreographed by corrupt government officials at the highest levels. Their tactics include specious studies, disinformation campaigns in the press, slandering public figures who support homeopathy (eg. Prince Charles, who recently became a patron of the Society of Homeopaths) and the undermining of homeopathic pharmacies through government regulations and nuisance law suits.
Homeopathy, and the rest of holistic medicine face a critical moment. Huge grassroots movements are needed to push back against this. The millions of people who use homeopathy and other natural healing methods, as well as anyone who treasures freedom, need to decide whether they want the right of choice in medical care, or a society dictated by Pharma, which profits from their sickness.

Alan, what a horrifying editorial! Big Pharma is no joke! Boiron losing half its income? Yikes! The holistic health movement needs to radicalize, like the ’60’s, and get out there and march! I wish the Royal Family would start making some noise!
Yes, I agree totally. We’re long past responding to attacks by submitting more research. The people attacking homeopath already know it works! That’s why they’re attacking it! We need a massive bottom up movement. Prince Charles just became a Patron of the Society of Homeopathy. Within a few days he was attacked in the press for siding with homeopathy.
Yes, I know, “more research”, what a joke! There will always be something “wrong” with whatever research we do; or, they just continue to lie about it! “There’s no research! No studies!” And yes, they know it works, that’s why they’re acting the way they do! The last thing they’re interested in are therapies that work!
