Even with lifelong study, homeopathy is still a continuing challenge. Many cases are easily solved, others are more difficult and some defy our best efforts.  This can be due to several variables, including undiscovered maintaining causes. The uncertainty in finding the simillimum has given rise to some non-classical approaches such as: Rajan Sankaran’s Sensation method, Grant Bentley’s Homeopathic Facial Analysis (HFA), Ulrich Welte’s Color Preference, Jiri Cehovsky’s Autopathy, Catherine Coulter’s deep psychological portraits, Leon Vannier’s Typology, remedy pictures based on essences, Vega machines (Reinholdt Voll and Helmut Schimmel), kinesiology, radionics and others.

I once visited a well known holistic doctor who connected me to a sophisticated German made Vega-type machine that could ostensibly detect all of my frequencies. Within a few minutes, the device found scores of unwanted chemicals, toxins and heavy metals, fifty-six in all. It then imprinted all of these frequencies onto a bottle of water in potencies ranging from 6c to 10M.  I was advised to take a few drops once a day.

When taking a homeopathic case, symptoms due to environmental factors can sometimes act as artifact. We are increasingly exposed to a host of chemicals through the air, water and food. Other pollutants can be toxic prescription drugs and vaccines. More recently, the environmental assault has included electromagnetic radiation from power lines, cell towers, cell phones and smart meters. All of these influences can create body/mind effects that confuse the symptom picture.  To get around these influences some homeopaths begin cases by detoxing the patient.

In the search for another way to find the simillimum, Dr. Guy Beckley Stearns (1870 – 1947) stands out as an early and passionate researcher. He was the developer of autonomic reflex testing in the study of homeopathic remedies. He demonstrated that on exposure to a correct remedy, there were changes in percussion tones of the abdomen and chest and in the pulse and respiratory rate. He also observed dilation of the pupils, and changes in blood flow (by transillumination) in the ear lobes and webs of the fingers.

On one occasin, Dr. Stearns bet his life on his ideas. He had developed a serious heart condition and some of the best  homoeopaths in the United States had been unable to cure him. He was so ill, that he couldn’t walk more than a few steps. He taught two laymen his pupil dilation testing method and they tested 1200 remedies on him, 100 a day. Finally they got  positive responses from Morphine Acetate, Ruta and Rhus.  After taking those remedies he was completely cured.

I can imagine a futuristic scenario in which we have a machine that scans the body in seconds and correlates it with a healing frequency. That would make life easier and it would put an end to chemical medicines. Until that time, keep the Organon close, plumb its depths and enjoy its riches.
