Dreams Come True

Dreams Come True

Have you ever been a patient in an allopathic hospital? If so, you know it means being constantly vigilant for mistakes, doing battle with doctors and nurses to avoid procedures or drugs that might injure (or kill) you. It means desperate calls to friends to bring you homeopathic remedies, vitamins, good water and even nutritious food. It means being wakened every time you drift into desperately needed sleep. Whenever that’s happened to me, or someone I love, I’ve spent a lot of time fantasizing about homeopathic hospitals.

It doesn’t have to be like this. In the U.S., in the year 1900, there were 100 homeopathic hospitals, 22 homeopathic medical schools, 1000 pharmacies, free dispensaries for the poor and one in every four doctors was a homeopath. Articles about homeopathy appeared in local and national papers, and some insurance companies offered discounts for people who used homeopathic doctors.

Those were the glory days. Over the next 30 years, powerful interests in allopathy and the drug industry waged a campaign against homeopathy, driving it nearly to extinction. By 1930 the last homeopathic medical school and hospital had closed and homeopathy became just a memory. A handful of skillful practitioners were the embers that kept its flame barely alive.

Starting in the late 1970’s, public interest renewed, and today there are about 1,500 homeopathic physicians and a few thousand lay or para-professional homeopaths (but few of those are licensed). For a country of 308 million people, this will never do. We still dream of a homeopathic hospital, but before the hospital must come the medical school.

This month we have a presentation from the American Medical College of Homeopathy. Scheduled to open February 2011, it will be the first homeopathic medical school in the U.S. in over 80 years. It is the brainchild of Dr. Todd Rowe, its immensely dedicated president and founder. It was the result of hard work by many people working toward a dream. That dream includes a future library, clinics, a research center and yes … a homeopathic hospital. It’s been a long time coming and it presages a return to the glory days. This project is ongoing and needs your help as volunteers, administrators, faculty and benefactors.

Also this month: Jiri Cehovsky describes how to use Autopathy to overcome common parasites. Isaac Golden reports on the world’s largest trial of homeoprophylaxis, which took place in Cuba. Physicist Cyril W. Smith answers the age old question of whether water can hold multiple homeopathic frequencies. There’s much more, including Elaine’s famous quiz, Tips and Secrets, The Plant Doctor (send questions!), a new Crossword Puzzle, the Cartoon and more.

Now, sit back and relax and enjoy this issue. Be sure to send us your feedback, suggestions, questions, articles and cases. Your participation helps make this the most widely read homeopathy journal in the world.

  • CONGRATULATIONS! I’M GLAD TO READ ABOUT the NEW HOMOEOPATHIC School in the U.S. HPATHY IS VERY USEFUL TO ALL OF US HOMOEOPATHS. THANK you.

  • Please accept my Best wishes, hope a very bright future and return of glory days in the benefit of common man ‘the patients’. “The physician’s high and only mission is to restore the sick to health, to cure, as it is termed.”

  • The truth will win. Yes homeopathy is really going to win over the greedy prone crony capitalist allopathy in the near future. sathyameva jayethay

  • All great accomplishments start with someones’ dream. The first Australian computer was so big it filled a very large room yet its capabilities were less than what a basic mobile phone can do today. No one thought that one would ever be able to see ’round’ the earth. How could one? An impossibility! or fly ? that was for the birds….
So we never know – and homeopathy uses Nana particles for healing – in my book anyway.

  • How will you deal with de AMA, the FDA and the strong commerce on drugs from the USA and other countries in the world? They will continue to be the first second and third opponents to the floureshing of Homeopathy in the world, and naturrally at home (USA). Anyway my best wishes for your succes in your entreprenur that deserves the qualification of “imposible dream come true…”

  • Indeed it is great to know that Homoepathic college is going to be a reality in a country which boasts freedom but americans have no freedom even to choose their food. properly. Corprates chose what you eat, what you drink etc.. I believe bringing Hpathy back in to America is real freedom for the Americans.
    Long live Homoepathy
