There are some very sophisticated and expensive programs on the market that provide a mind-bending number of features. So many features, in fact, that seminars are offered to learn how to use them. I admit to being “low tech” and so when I’ve tried those programs, I often got lost in the maze of instructions. These programs generally sell for between two and four thousand dollars. While this may be a fair price for what’s in there, many people simply can’t afford that. As a result, some people have been using “lite” or substandard programs.  Well, there’s no excuse for that anymore.  Bring on Openrep Pro.

I first tried Openrep Pro some months ago and was delightfully surprised.  After I tell you what’s in this program, you’re not going to believe the price.  It is comprehensive, powerful and so easy to use, that I was able to use it from day one. As time went by I started working with more features and if I had a question, I would just view one of the 3 minute videos….and I’m back in action.

There’s more in this program than I can describe in a brief article, but here’s a taste. You can search through 103 materia medicas and/or texts.  With a keystroke you have access to Kent, Allen, Clark, Farrington, Lippe, Nash, Boenninghausen, Tyler and all the rest. Openrep Pro is an open program, so you can add to it. For instance, you can add a symptom to the repertory and it becomes a working part of the program. You can also import articles, files, or whatever you like.

It has 13 repertories which can be searched individually or collectively. The results may be viewed as a repertory tree, or as if you were reading a book.  You can repertorize a case using 5 separate desktops to view a case from different perspectives.  As you search, you’ll see that absolutely every symptom in Openrep Pro is sourced.

The Reversed Materia Medica lets you compare remedies to decide which you want. Is your remedy compatible with the last one? Do you need a complement or antidote? No problem, as Openrep Pro has a comprehensive Repertory of Remedy Relations.

The Patient Management System is easy to use and lets you keep total patient records, including pictures and even videos if you like. Is there a medical term or archaic word you’re unsure of? Openrep has a dictionary to look it up.

The original Openrep Free was created and conceived by homeopath and computer programmer Vladimir Polony. A couple of years ago, Gary Weaver D.O. based in Florida, an experienced homoeopathic teacher and practitioner of 25 years, was invited by Vladimir to join him and help with the conceptualizing of what has become OpenRep Professional. What you see in OpenRep Pro is the blend of Gary’s work flow oriented designs and Vladimir’s unique ability to translate it into an easy to use program.

I guess it’s time I revealed the price. Hold onto your hat, it’s……$165.  Yes, that wasn’t a typo!  Now you’re wondering, how can it can cost $165 if it’s so good? It could easily have been priced at $2000, but Vladimir and Gary were committed from the start, to producing a program that everyone could afford. To put it simply, they want everybody to have it. They believe it will help spread homeopathy and strengthen the community. Since he started developing OpenRep Free, Vladimir has listened to feedback from users, and constantly made improvements. In OpenRep Pro that protocol continues, and the design team looked at every suggestion carefully. They want it to be everybody’s program. You’ve got me, Vladimir!

  • Thanks for the article for what it contains. What is missing is how to go about making a purchase of the OpenRep Pro software program. I had downloaded sometime back, I think, OpenRep FREE and tried it and found to be very useful. I am a hobbyist and I never practiced as a regular Professional. But I had studied the hoeopathic literature extensively, including Organon, Materia Medicas, and Repertories.

I am very happy people like you are keeping up hoeopathy where it belongs to.

    Thanks again

  • Hi, I downloaded Open Rep 1.9 with Kents repertory in spanish,
a few days I accidentally erased it, I ve been trying to downloaded again in many ways and has been impossible to do it . I LL appreciate you could help me.

    thankyou

  • Just a little update, the program is no longer offered at this price. It’s now a bit more like other programs with gradiations up above 1K for the full package – still much less than a full Radar package, but not priced as low as one might like. I’m a teacher of homeopathy and had hoped to use this with students, I can have them download the free option which is nice, just not sure the higher pricing will be as much of a draw. Blessings and thank you for the option, I’d never heard of this one.

  • I’ve developed an advanced opensource online repertory software called OpenHomeopath. You find there the repertories from OpenRep integrated: Kent, Repertorium Publicum, Boenninghausen and more. Give him a try it’s developed for professional homeopaths but also suitable for homeopathic student. There’re many possibilities of custimization and extending the database. You can save the repertorization results in the database or download them as PDF. You can also share results with other users and communicate in the forum. It’s only financed by donations, so if you use the programm please don’t forgot to donate!
