This is an interesting, very different book marketed mainly to the Australian population. It is lavishly peppered with fabulous children’s drawings collected from various homeopaths’ consultations. It contains an excellent review from Dr Isaac Golden on the flyleaf.

It begins with the usual “What is Homeopathy” chapter and then concentrates on what to expect from a consultation for challenging children, including the past and future research into this subject.

The next part of the book tells the children’s stories as collected by a variety of local homeopaths. The chapters are organised into conditions from ADHD, Anger, Autism and Anxiety to Physical problems, Tantrums and Poor Concentration. Some stories are short and others long with a variety of different prescribing methods being shown. The remedies are stated, but as a homeopath I was frustrated that in some cases there was not an explanation of why the remedy was chosen. Of course this would not worry a parent and this book is written for parents of prospective patients.

This book carries a useful list of the Australian practitioners plus their addresses and contact numbers with detailed biographies and photos of those who contributed to this book.

Overall this would be a useful book to have in every library in Australia. It could be recommended to parents all round the world who are wondering whether to seek homeopathic treatment for their challenging child, rather than go down the allopathic route of medication or the educational psychologist for behavioural therapy. The success stories will be an inspiration to any parent coping with this difficult situation.
