ACADEMY OF CLASSICAL HOMEOPATHY

Tradition and Innovation, Diversity and Community

The Academy of Classical Homeopathy was founded in 1999 as a small training program and was incorporated in 2004 as the Florida Academy of Classical Homeopathy. The school’s name changed in 2009 to reflect its wider geographical scope, with new programs being added in Philadelphia and online.

The school’s mission is to:

Educate both consumers and professionals
Promote the highest standards in homeopathy
Enhance cooperation within the homeopathic profession.

We offer a four-year professional training program, advanced professional seminars, home care courses, and an experiential introduction to homeopathic care. Our courses use instructional techniques from in-person to online and distance learning.

What is different about ACH? Our breadth of courses infuses the school with an awareness of our context: we know that we’re part of a diverse and vital homeopathic community. The faculty’s professional involvement is one reflection of this, as is our participation in publications such as Hpathy. Moreover, we consciously cultivate community among our students, knowing that the school is a microcosm of the profession and that our students will be each other’s colleagues for the rest of their lives. We appreciate, engage, and enhance each student’s innate abilities and potential. This is our vision for the homeopathic community as a whole: unity and cooperation within diversity.

Professional training

The four-year training program is at the heart of the school. Certain principles undergird how we teach:

We believe that with sufficient grasp of homeopathic philosophy, one can solve any problem in clinical practice. One advantage of the emphasis on philosophy is a thorough grasp of the homeopathic process: we become more certain of what we do by knowing why we are doing it.

We support diversity in the homeopathic profession. As a community, we are stronger when each of us is open to a variety of perspectives. Our training program develops flexibility of thought and communication skills. We see the training program as the foundation for lifelong learning. As homeopaths, we excel when we remain open to change. We teach so that students can always draw on their training, no matter how they and homeopathy, might evolve.

Year 1, the Foundation Course, establishes the framework for the rest of the program. It introduces clinical practice through a detailed examination of fundamental principles, linking homeopathic methodology to each step of clinical process – case taking, case analysis, use of the repertory, materia medica study, posology, and case management.

Year 2, the Professional Preparation Course, delves deeper into these topics to prepare students for the supervised clinical experience of Years 3 and 4. Materia medica is a staple throughout the program and is taught through cases that also provide consistent practice in case analysis and the practical application of homeopathic philosophy.

The backbone of Years 3 and 4, the Clinician Cornerstone Course, is supervised clinical practice. By the time they graduate, our students have taken many cases under supervision and have made significant progress on the supervised cases required by the Council for Homeopathic Certification. Many students graduate with the seeds of their future practice already sown, as their clinic clients can follow them into practice.

Community outreach

The school offers short courses and workshops for consumers and other professionals. Most recently, for example, many of our students and graduates have been presenting a school-designed “Homeopathy for the Flu” workshop in their communities. We also offer online and distance learning introductory courses and periodically invite master homeopaths from around the world to present advanced seminars for our students and guests.

    Please help

  • Was looking for a classical homeopathic in Brookville Fl. For my sister.. She has tri geminal nerve disease..in a lot of pain

    • Karen, you’re not limited to Florida–if I understand what “Fl” means. Most homeopaths take cases online nowadays. You should be able to “see” pretty much anyone. It should not be hard to find a remedy for Trigeminal Neuralgia. Two questions: 1. Which side is it on? 2. Which ameliorates, warm compresses or cold?
