Dear Friends,

In response to Amir Cassam’s article ‘Was Kent a Hahnemannian?’, we have received an article by Douglas Brown. Amir Cassam has then replied to Brown’s article. You can read both articles here –

Great article with “frederick”
started reading the interview it dawned on me that perhaps the ‘mentor’ i first had regards homeopathy was one of the ‘5-10’ homeopaths frederick mentioned in his article.
a homeopath from belgium named Dr. Godfernon impressed me so much with his knowledge and the use of his computer rept. this was the begining of my own homeopathic journey. perhaps there is a connection?

I also think the “Materia Medica” section is so important because there is always so much more to learn about our remedies…

Hello,
I just wanted to let you know that I was unable to “link” to your articles from the highlighted areas in the Feb. e-zine. I went to the website and can read the articles just fine. Thanks for another great issue.

Deus Caritas Est,
LuAnn

Dr. B – Hi LuAnna, There was some problem in the first copy of the Feb ezine that we sent to you but we sent everyone a corrected version later.

Dear sir
thanking u lots of ,which enhanced my knowledge by reading articles from your articals.
thanking u
yours
Dr Vijay.

Thank you for sending me a copy of the Feb. issue of Ezine. I am greatly impressed by the scope, depth and sincerity of the articles.’Homeopathy and Soul-3’by Dr.Leela D’Souza was interesting and educative. Her stress on treating miasmatic effects in difficult cases is a good reminder to superficial prescribers. It would be interesting to start a column
narrating specific cases of homeopathy where allopathy failed and complicated the disease. This would create more interest in this wonderful system, now that people are getting more and more fed up with side effects of allopathy. Interview of Frederic Schroyens was enlightening. Being a new entrant to the membership of your esteemed
Ezine, I reserve my detailed impressions for the next issues.

Amir Cassam on Kent

I would just like to point out that Kent says Correspondences are only an outgrowth of observation. and elsewhere …harmonious with all that I have learnt in the last thirty years.
Thia is in relation to Hering’s Law. So I am afraid I cannot accept when you say”This, in effect, meant that for Kent the process of discovery and advance in knowledge in any field of human endeavor through research and experiment was irrelevant”
I think you underestimate and do Kent a gross injustice.

Jamie

I do feel that Mr Cassam is too black and white and accuses Kent rather harshly. If we look at his clinical cases, how on earth can we say Kent only uses Mentals. See The Whiskey Drinker, here all confirmation of the use of the curative remedy are physicals as well as mentals. Why did he work so hard to make a repertory involving both mentals and physicals? Someone else found it very hard and only managed, Mind, Generals, Sleep and Genitalia.
Kent quite obviously did observe, he talks about the observations after a fire of what grows up after that, he talks of the world and the sun and Nature, it is one sided, I feel to say kent was opposed to Hahnemann.
The Vital Force is formative, but what did Mr Cassam understand by that? The results of taking morbific agencies, that Hahnemann talks of are these not a result of the drugs and the vital force of the individual involved?
Hahnemann said the Vital Force was unintelligent, but he also said it was instinctive, what should we understand from that?
I would be happy for you to pass this or my email to Mr Cassam.
There are other aspects of his essay which are excellent. His analysis of the analysis of the case and the glib remark that he was cured without any evidence whatsoever are good. I am writing for our paper an essay on how to assess whether the person is cured or the symptoms are just removed, Homeopathy is not this all caring entity that cures or does nothing, it can remove symtoms without cure having occurred prior and palliation or suppression be the result. For this to be avoided or overcome then we need careful observation and pure experience as Hahnemann said in his Organon.
I would also very much appreciated a more direct reference to the quotations in the text, not just a bibliography at the end. I am constantly reading the books but am not so conversant that I can immediately find any quote.
Thank you for your time
Yours in Homeopathy

Hello
I think it would be a great idea to have a spot on hpathy.com where we collect data about the genius epidemicus for the current flue / children disease etc ?
Something that is definitely missing on the internet in general and that might be useful for many of us, as these illnesses keep moving all around the world.
Have a great day, Ute Seebauer

Hi Elaine, thanks for another fun one! And a special thanks for your February “FAQ” article – it addressed a number of nagging questions. Actually, your September “Sports Injuries/Soccer Moms” article is by far the one that I refer to more often than any other in my collection. It is also the one I am most likely to send to someone as a reference.
