The author, John Eastman Wilson, AB, M.D. (1857-1929) was Professor of Diseases of the Nervous System, New York Homœopathic College and Hospital for Women.
In the preparation of the second edition of this work, the first edition, valued by student and practitioner, has been reviewed, revised, and brought in its entirety thoroughly up to date. The thoughtful reader cannot fail to be impressed with the following points: The clearness with which the neurological facts are stated; that the exposition of the nervous diseases is lucid; that the elucidation of the pathological basis of symptoms of diseases of the nervous system is made clear whenever the actual basis of the neurological phenomenon is known; that from a therapeutic point of view the value of the symptomological prescription of the indicated remedy is set forth in such a way as to make the reader realize that a great mass of homoeopathic literature has been searched and the findings skillfully applied; that the author has a broad outlook therapeutically since he brings to the reader not only homoeopathic remedies but also remedies having some clinical basis for their use as well as the adjuvant and palliative agents from various sources; and finally, that the author has given to his readers the very last word from the most reliable research workers on epidemic cerebro-spinal meningitis, anterior poliomyelitis acuta and the so-called parasyphilitic diseases.
