Ovarian Cyst in a Married Woman of 47

Drs. Divya Yadav, Ram Prasad Yadav and Vineeta Singh share a case of left ovarian cyst in a woman of 47.  Fear of darkness and high places and ovarian tumors were among the symptoms that led to the simillimum.

A 47 year old married woman reported in outpatient department( OPD), with complaint of heavy and irregular menses since last 4 months . She came to consult on 9 August 2022 for the first time with history of bleeding since 30th July 2022. Her ultrasound dated (3 August 2022 ) findings were:

A loculated left ovarian cyst of approx. 54  x 38mm . Normal right ovary. Parous size uterus .No Myxoma

Her haemoglobin was  6.2 g/dl

LMP : 30/ July /22

 HISTORY OF PRESENT COMPLAINTS

Patient was apparently well before April 2022 . Since April 2022 she had irregular and heavy bleeding. Menses were reappearing every 7-10 days.

PAST HISTORY:

Two month ago she had viral fever and took allopathic treatment.

GYNECOLOGICAL & OBSTETRICS HISTORY:

Menarche- at age 14

LMP:30/July/2022

Duration (since April 22)  : 10 -12 days ( earlier it was 5 days)

Cycle ( since April 22): 7-10 days ( earlier it was 24-25 days)

Flow – Heavy (she had to use 7-8 pads on first two days of menses

Color: red

Partly fluid and partly clotted

Any associated complaints:

Pain in left lower side of abdomen on first 2 days of menses.

OBSTETRICAL HISTORY:

G2P2L2

Full term normal delivery in both pregnancies

PHYSICAL GENERALS:

1.Thermal reaction: chilly

2.Thirst: thirsty

3.Perspiration: profuse on face and head, non staining

4.Desire: not marked .

5.Stool: N.A.D

  1. Urine: N.A.D

7.Sleep:Refreshing, 6-7 hrs /day

  1. Sleep position : back

9.Dreams- Daily routine

 MENTAL GENERALS:

  • She was doubtful of recovery that cyst can be cured without surgery by homoeopathy.
  • Fear of dark
  • Fear of high place
  • Anxious about trifle

TOTALITY OF SYMPTOMS:

1.Anxious about trifles+1

PRESCRIPTION:

Rx  Calcarea carb 200/3 doses

Rubrum met 30/TDS  for 7 days was given on 09/07/22

Calcarea carbonica is the remedy in this case as it covers the mental & physical generals and particulars also. Calcarea are anxious about the future which leads to anxiety about health. There is fear of infectious diseases, of tuberculosis, of heart disease, of cancer etc. Naturally there is a strong fear of death. They  perspire easily and profusely after even slight exertion .Adults perspire even in a cold environment.3

Rubrum met 200/TDS* 30days

07-12-22 LMP -02-12-22

Duration – 5 days

Flow – less than before

Clots also decreased

Rx Rubrum met 200/ TDS * 20 days

 

Pt was advised to get usg done

09-01-23 LMP-28-12-22

Duration-5 days

Flow – Normal

Few clots only

Rx Rubrum met 200/ TDS * 7 days

CONCLUSION

Homoeopathic medicines selected on the basis of individualization were helpful in reducing size of ovarian cyst and in curing the ovarian cyst. Not only in ovarian cyst, homoeopathic medicines are helpful in many gynaecological problems like fibroid, PCOD , PID , Endometriosis etc

  • I think here Rubrum is Corallium Rubrum. If it is so, I still can not understand how this remedy can be chosen after administering calc carb?

    • I agree with Maruti, I don’t get it. I don’t know what “Rubrum” refers to (it just means “red”; for instance, Corallium rubrum is “red coral”) and I don’t know why the remedy changed away from Calc-carb. if that was the right remedy. Very confusing.
