Dear Dr. Khalsa,

My 16 year old female miniature (10 lbs.) Dachshund has had two episodes of pancreatitis over the last four years. The first time was the worst because I fed her some cheese. We don’t know what set off the second episode but in both instances she was very sick. She is now on a low fat intestinal support kibble and is taking probiotics daily. She is doing very well. Is there a homeopathic / holistic remedy or nutrient that would support her pancreas?

Thank you

Carl Geis

Dr. Deva Khalsa:  Iris versicolor 6x or 30x given two to three times a day for a month, then once a day for the second month. Iris versicolor is also good for the entire digestive tract.

 Greetings Dr. Khalsa

My 10 year old cat, who is in excellent health, has always been terrified of thunder.  I believe the remedy she needs is Rhododendron.  Could you give me an idea what potency would be best and for how many doses?

Thank you

 Melissa

Dr. Deva Khalsa: I have never used Rhododendron for aversion to thunder storms, rather I have used Borax. Both are fine to use in the 6x potency and usually I recommend 3x a day for a few days before a storm or 3x a day during thunderstorm season, depending on where you live.

Hi Dr. Khalsa,

My friend and I are having a debate about whether remedies will work if placed on wet cat food.  Can you settle that debate?

Harold Kauffman

Dr. Deva Khalsa: If the remedies are in the liquid gravy of the cat food and the cat is only given this and solid sections of the food are withheld for 10 minutes that will work. So you are both right in a way!

 Dear Dr. Khalsa,

Rhus tox 30 is controlling the arthritis symptoms in my 10 year old male German Shepherd.  I’m concerned that he will prove it eventually. Can you make any suggestions?

Thank you

 Alberto Donati

Dr. Deva Khalsa: I have never seen Rhus tox prove itself and have used it for 40 years.

Dear Dr. Khalsa,

My 8 year old Labrador Retriever has a couple loose teeth, but the vet says there’s nothing wrong with the teeth or gums.  Is there a remedy that will help?

Thank you

Peter

Dr. Deva Khalsa: Silicea 6x given three times a day for a month or two will work to push out rotten and loose teeth. Typically, this breed has pretty good teeth. Does he or she chew on rocks or anything like that?
